No, I'm just being bad ....

I find it amusing that some people (present company excluded) think Bush will find clearing brush on his property distracting from his job, but don't think Clinton was distracted from his while having sex with a federal employee (or for that matter that she was distracted from her job) in his office during work hours.

Now I've cleared brush and I can attest from personal experience that you can multi-task while doing it.  I am not going to volunteer personal information on my expereinece with the second activitiy, but, IMO, if you don't find it distracting, someone isn't doing something right.   ;)

I have no idea why your avatar is squished and Minuet, not I, is responsible for fixing your problem yesterday.  My Tuesdays and Thursdays are long work days - I didn't even get home till long after it was fixed.

Rose, you forgot about Clinton sailing with Walter Cronkite. I'm sure he got a lot done there, too. Or what about that time he had Stan Greenburg poll people to see where he should go? :rotfl:

This is another interesting strategy, accuse some unidentified person of making a silly argument that was never made.

Didn't Bill Clinton take a vacation at Cape Cod with Walter Cronkite? Yup. Got lots done while sailing and golfing, didn't he? Didn't his chief pollster find out where people felt the Clintons should go on vacation? I believe it was camping.

Yeah but who ever said that it was okay to criticize Bush for taking a vacation but no one could comment on Clinton's vacations?

Answer, no one.

Before this site I never commented on Clinton's ahem, ahem, vacations. Why? Because I didn't really care. It goes with the job, which is the toughest on earth.

So you admit that no one ever made the argument that you are claiming is being made.

I only temporarily wanted to close the thread to get people to back off. The topic is still valid.

Admiralbill_gomec,

Stick to the topic and dispense with the personal insults or I will recommend that the thread be closed permanently.

Please get back on topic everyone.

Thank you.

Edit: Several replies and baiting/flaming comments (and responses) have been deleted.

Actually my dad just got five weeks vacation as part of his benefits package. He had to put in 20 years to get it but hey, I'm sure GWB worked just as hard in the past 5 years as he did in the past 20. :rotfl:

I'm more interested in the argument that Bush is criticized worse than President Clinton was for taking vacations.

What argument? There is none.

Back to topic (finally):

Why can't the president have a working vacation? Is he not doing the work of the American people? What (aside from location) is different? How is he less effective?

What argument? There is none.

So you are saying no one has made that argument?

How do we know it's a working vacation?

How do we know he won't be ignoring important intelligence reports while golfing?

What are you blathering about? You chose to go off topic by attempting to start some kind of circular argument; I reined it back in. Stick to topic.

Do you even know what the term "circular argument" means? If so please tell me what you think the definition is and then tell me how what I've stated in this thread fits your defintion.

Everybody reasonable knows that the President is not just sipping lemonade and watching the grass grow on his farm. BUT, it is absolute hell on the reporters when he goes down there, standing around in the heat with next to nothing to do. This and their liberal bias is why most of them begrudge a President at war vacation time.

The liberal bias has never been proven. It is a myth.
