A Robot in Disguise

Ok, a fair amount of time has now passed since I finished watching the end of season 4.

I thought my initial reaction to season 4 would change over time as I spend more time rewatching these eps.

This thread came into being cos I tried to rewatch Demons/Terra Prime again today.

This two parter still seems forced to me, for one thing the Trip / T'Pol thing was for me the most annoying thing about ENT and I am still irritated that this story was brought over to season 4. The loss of Elizabeth doesnt impact me at all, the storyline is brought in to quickly, and basically starts and finishes in the same ep. Plus the story of Xenophobic madman doesnt really interest me.

The Aenar Trilogy is still my favourite in all of ENT, but this three parter feels more like a season 2 ep as we get back to Vulcans and Andorians.

I like the Forge Trilogy, as it has a big DS9 feel to it.

I still cannot stand the Augements trilogy, it has this whole B Grade Sci-fi feel to it (Designer ripped clothes and some B grade actors as the Augments).

My favourite parts of season 4 are:

Stormfront - which is really Season 3 Pt II
The Forge Trilogy
The Aenar Trilogy
IAMD - I'm still surprised at how much I liked a MU ep
These are the Voyages - say what you want but its fun to watch

I hate Home
Havent even bothered watching Daudelus effect a second time - BORING!
Divergence is still as silly as ever
And I find Bound to be much more about getting ratings via titilation than Harbinger ever was

It struck me today what is lacking with Season 4; all of the stories are about Starfleets little neck of the woods, there are no stories about exploring new worlds or species, what Trek really is supposed to be about.

What say you?

I agree that more could have been done to explore and introduce new worlds. At least in some stand alone episodes. However, I think the need to "fix" the series too precedence. In this regard it taught a lot more about races like the Andorians than all other Trek series to date. We got a little bit more of the Tellarites, but not a lot.

To put it in perspective, since it was a prequel, exploring these other races was worth it. To the people of Enterprise's time period these were new species/worlds, despite our familiarity with them.

I still wish UPN hadn't cancelled ENT until the fall season. It would have been nice to watch it during the summer. :(

True. Now it will be ages until I can determine for myself if "Bound" really was just shameless titillation or not...

I liked them all, with the possible exception of the finale. The augment trilogy was superb.

I think the damning thing of all is I don't regret my descision to not see Enterprise last year other than the final episodes. I was just so amazed that season 3 just felt nothing like Star Trek and I did really loose interest. Over the year though, I've been curious about the different arcs, probably with the Forge arc being the main one and I was hoping it would be rerun. I guess not.

Nothing like Star Trek, thats a bit strong, I dont see it.

The 3 part finale does feel more like a cross between Star Wars and Star Trek, but as for the rest of the season, eps like Chosen Realm, Proving Ground, North Star and Strategem are as Trek as you can get.

And I always thought Season 3 was most like Post Worf DS9

Season 4 was by far the best Enterprise season, and it even is in the running for if not THE best, but ONE of the best Trek seasons PERIOD!

...In my opinion. :meditate:

8247,

It's nice to read your optimism for that season, which I too love very much. Now, how about switching loyalities to a professional football team? ;)

Well if Coto Et als aim was to make Season 4 closer to TOS, they left out one important ingredient - new encounters

Season 4 is still my favorite Enterprise season. It showed so much potential, and I was really disappointed when they finally decided to pull the plug.

One thing I was really impressed with was the frequent related stories, and serialized episodes it's one of my favorite aspects of DS9.

Never. You're afraid of Nick Saban. Admit it.

82, you liked the last season of Enterprise more than the sixth or seventh seasons of DS9?
