Besides, it might be fun to watch Bolton throw a fit and start throwing things at foreign dignitaries. We need our image improved in the world anyway.

Who was the last U.S. Ambassador to the UN to actually affect the workings of the UN?
It's an empty appointment.
We may pretty much run the world, but we don't run the UN. We don't really want to be a part of the UN, we're in arrears in our dues, and we don't really care what the UN says or does.
What is the UN but a group of nations getting together to delude themselves into thinking that they can stop the U.S. from doing pretty much whatever it wants?
Our Ambassador is just someone we send to warm a chair and maintain the appearance that we consider other nations an equal partner in world affairs.

SO you don't think that Bolton can be the first in a while? I'd say that Kirkpatrick was quite effective.

We are a major influence on the UN. It is about time we exercised it.

Do you think making comments like the UN could loose 10 floors and it wouldn't make a bit of difference increases the US influence in the UN or decreases it?

I do not think it changes anything.

I do not recall that Bolton has documented "fits" or of "throwing things at foreign dignitaries". This is a typical democratic distortion. I just do not understand when people are a democrat or republican and then agree with everything that party says they should think. It seems like people are acting like robots and giving up their power to think independently. Personally, I think there should be many more independents. Why are not people more like me? :welsby:

I think right now the best example of people throwing fits can be seen in the democratic party as they lost the last two elections.

In any case, all this discussion of Bolton is about the past. We will see what happens in the UN as things unfold.

That doesn't surprise me. You might be right.

I thought it was also a group of nations trying to get from the U.S. the one and only thing it truly loves about America. It's money.

It's money, the protection of the world's oil supply, it's funding of the UN, a vast military to protect the global economic interests of ........everybody.

So it can then turn around and accuse the US of doing all this for "it's own selfish interests."

What an elegant SCAM.

By now President Franko would have turned the UN building in New York into another Sheraton-Hilton. With lots of free parking.

Have a nice day.

What is really depressing about all of this is the fact that many people are getting rashes worrying over the fact that Bush might have put a man in there who would say a harsh word to these scoundrels.
