Actually drowning a beef or meat & cheese pie in tomato sause is one of those simple pleasures of life. Rissoles dipped liberally in tomato sause is very nice too. |

I too LOVE crumbed or battered and fried fish fillets (mullet, whiting, barramundi, tailor are nice done this way) and chips (as opposed to fries), and I literally drown them in salt and vinegar. Unless the batter is beer-batter , and even the chips are beer battered in which case I squeeze heaps of lemon onto it rather than vinegar. Oh - by the way - toasted (grilled) ham, cheddar cheeze and sliced tomato sandwiches for lunch for me today (2 x) , nice on a cool windy winter's day. Baked whole n***** (also known as darkie) for dinner tonight, caught a few yesterday afternoon on the bottom of the tide just before dusk. Threw lots of undersized juvenile fish back (anything under 10" long goes back in the drink) , had a ball , none-the-less . The biggest fish is about 3 lb (cleaned) so I'll probably skin and fillet it. I'll probably grab a banana tree leaf from one of my banana trees to used as a wrap for the biggest fish's fillets and stuff the fillets with something - like maybe an adaptation of Bagged, Baked Opakapaka (Snapper) Fillets with Macadamia Crust , mmmmm ?!? , this will work and looks very tasty . The banana leaf wrap will keep it all together and stop the wine sause from escaping , and I have most the other stuff needed is in the pantry. ![]() (Somerled, you were asked not to use the N word on this message board). |

Moderator Comment Since Luthien already has a thread set up to discuss issues relating to her personal life, I split the previous 9 replies off and merged them with herSpiritual Journey Thread. Please direct further discussion on Luthien to that thread. Thank you. |

Administrative Response Hank - we have a number ouf lighthearted threads here. The Kickback forum was specially set up to house these fun threads and keep the other forums from getting spammed. If you have no interest in this type of thread I suggest you simply stay out of this section of the board. Our Politics forums are far more serious and our Star Trek and Sci Fi forums stay on topic quite well. It works for us. End Administrative Response |

Your meat pies are what we call pot pies here in the US. The most common pot pie is chicken pot pie. Putting ketchup (i.e. what you call tomato sauce) on a pot pie would make the pie disgusting. Now if the meat pie had nothing but hamburger meat, grilled onions and spices, then I could see maybe ketchup working with the meat pie. Because it wouldn’t be all that different than eating meatloaf or a hamburger. Both of which I put ketchup on. I don't see many other ingredients in a pie going with ketchup though. |
