Hey there. Wow my first post.... cant wait to get to a million.

I hope I can wirte this as I am in need of some help.

I have done RPG's for about 2 years now. Stargate mainly. I have played in a Star Trek and a medieval one but they both unfirtunately closed down.

Anyways, as I have always wanted to get my own RPG underway, I have waited until I got enough Roleplaying experience. Now I have that exp, I have created my own RPG. And guessing by the title, it is called Oblivion Fleet. Basically the fleet is a new institutionalised fleet, under a new commanding officer, who is given a starbase to begin his fleet. He is to make his own ships, and maybe some other ships will request to be moved.

Anyway the forum is going up slowly, I have done a lot already and is no where near finsihed. However that is not the problem I am suffering with/.

THe problem which with many new RPG is MEMBERS. I needs members. Now I know I am asking a lot, but I want to get this RPG underway soon and without members it is going to be boring.

Another problem I have is I need someone, or more if loads come.... to help me run it as command. The whole idea behind this is to privde help and another commander poster.

Anyway ill give you all the link, then come and look yourself.

Let me give you a few pieces of advice for running your sim...I used to run a few sims, so Ill tell you what I have learned:

Your sim is far to widespread for a beginning sim. I looked at your mission thread, and you have way too many threads. Starting off too big will always lead to a sims demise. Keep it small, and wait until a section fills up with simmers before you start a new one.

In order to attract members, you need some kind of plot that will bring people in. There are tons of sims out there...what makes yours special? A plot that is original and leaves creativity open will bring in a lot of members, and thus make a successful sim. Also, make your board more attractive, something easy on the eyes but different from the original invision skin. Some flashy images and stuff wouldnt hurt either. ;)

Thats all I can think of right now...hopefully this helps. Good luck!

Ok that help however I must clarify something. If you have been on my forum, which it actually seems you have you will have seen that on my mission thread, the threads are only the different areas on board the ship, this makes it easier to use in my opinion, as many of my other simms which i help run and buildd use., Basically this is so, more than one thing can be going on at once, e.g. a conversation can take place in the Engineering room, while a man is recievving medical treatment without the posts been wrapped around each other. The Threads are only places not different missions.

Also the backstory is giving me difficutlies as I want it to be original as you have said, so I need some more time on it before it gets underway anyways. As there is so many Star Trek Simms out there, I think of a backstory and there is another that has a similar one.

I am looking ofr the perfect skin to use, which has me stumped at the moment.

Thanks for the feedback, it is the only feedback I have recieved from over 20 forums I have posted on.

I guess the biggest problem I am going to have is that I am a Stargate Roleplayer, so I dont know many Star Trek Roleplayers, this will also mean that I am not very popular in the ST Simming WOrld. This is something I want to irradicate.
