I voted no. I live in a very good neighborhood and odds are that I would be safe. But women can never say that 100% they are safe anywhere. Things happen in good neighborhoods too. |

Yes, I live in a pretty quiet neighborhood except for the small population of rowdy high school kids who happened to leave some of their toilet paper in our tree last summer. They sometimes like to race up and down the street, but that's about the extent of danger you face in my neighborhood late at night. |

Strangely enough, a fairly safe community I live in. Most areas in my town are even safe after dark; but one should never let their guard down. Stuff always goes down when you're least expecting it. Always be aware of your sorroundings, and don't take anything for granted. There's actually been a bear wandering around in my area lately; come down from de mountain. And, like, nobody's even looking for it despite numerous sightings. Yup, I live in yuppie land. |

I'm more concerned about walking into a orb-spider web late at night when walking (in summer) , they don't bite but .... still having a big spider on you somewhere is spooky. My neigbourhood is very leafy and they love making webs across foot paths and driveways. Most people avoid them by walking in the middle of the street. Plenty of people , including ladies and girls walk the foreshore around The Lake and the harbour (alone) at night - they tend to thin out a bit by about 11pm , all at home , or at the clubs by then I guess. Lots for exercise and some sightseeing , and I often have a chat with them when that ask how the fishings going , when I'm on one of the breakwaters or the harbour foreshore (fishing for jew) or on one of the jettys chasing squid and/or prawns at night. Pretty safe around here , even for Japanese tourists (there are plenty of them especially in summer (here for the beaches, the wineries, the deep sea fishing and marline and big game fishing, the national park tours, and for the 4x4 touring) , provided they don't get too close when you are landing a fish - one Japanese fellow wore the fish when I landed a big snapper one evening a few years ago - I lifted it (40 -50 ft to the top of the breakwater using the stretch in the line and the springyness of the rod as is the technique - when cliff-fishing and the fish is under gaffing size) and he happened to be in the way and wore the fish as it sailed up through the air. A 10 - 12 lb snapper is some missile. He did ask - "how do you know when you have a fish ? " - the rod was set with the butt in a drilled hole in the concrete and I wasn't holding it (the reel suddenly exploded into a very loud scream , and the rod bucked and bent right over - that answered that question , and he did ask "how do you land a big fish from so high above the water ? " - he saw how. I was pretty funny at the time , even he and his friends thought so.
