I think I have seen an automatic on Top Gear but never in person, I don't know I don't think I'd want one, I want to drive, I want to be in control of what happens where and when in my car. Guess I'm a bit of a control freak

Automatic. When driving in San Francisco, you might have a stop sign or stop light on a freaking 45 degree incline.

That is when you get to do the fun balance the weight of the car with engine torque by carefully controlling the clutch. When I lived in hilly Oklahoma, I always had fun doing this. It was a bit unnerving when some bozo pulled right up behind you at a stop light going up hill.

Yeah, and inevitably some moron pulls all the way up to your bumper on those hills too.

That happened to me in a car park yesterday, and the clutch in my AX is on its way out, so it slips occasionally.

My pickup is an automatic, though I'm capable of driving a manual transmission vehicle. I just don't care much for that little bit of roll that happens in the moment when you have to switch your foot from the brake to the clutch pedal.

I used to have a part-time job as a shag driver for an auto auction. Had to be able to drive pretty much anything to deliver them across town. The manuals were never that much fun in Denver's traffic and hills.

It was only dirty when you had to check the oil and engine.
Believe me, it had nothing to do with Austin Powers.
We just had to "shag" cars from one place to another, then get picked up in a van to go take more cars somewhere else. How do you suppose that term "shag" came to be anyway? I've also heard it used as in "shagging" balls at baseball practice.

Huh?
I never learned how to drive a stick, so I guess I have to pick auto by default.

Welsby,

A request has been made to add a "both" option. Do you want the option added?
