Actually somerled, I upgraded my phone for free and kept my original plan which is actually cheaper than local phone service.

Competition in the mobile phone market is high - both between mobile phone networks, mobile phone retailers and mobile phone producers. That good for the consumer as they are all anxious to secure our business. |

I have a phone. The ring tone sounds like a telephone. It does not have a camera. I do not play games on it. I take and receive calls with it. I have once used its web connection to send a file from my laptop when I was out of wi-fi range.
Maybe so, but I usually bring a book with me if I'm out with my fiancee on a shopping trip. I look up, say, "You look great, Sweetie," and go back to my book. Of course most shopping trips are organized by me, and they include manly things like riding mowers and power saws and camping gear |

^^^ I would not have bothered with the camera phone. But it was free so I didn't see any reason to turn it down. My main emphasis was getting a reliable phone after the piece of junk I owned formerly. |

Personally I got my current cellphone strictly for emergencies use only. Anything else could easily be handled by my home phone or my answering machine. It's one of the reasons why I had settled for the "Pay per Use" option when my contract was due for renewal two months ago. It come in extremely handy especially if you are out on the highway and got into a situation in the middle of nowhere. The options - wireless web surfing, camera, games, MP3; etc are items we can easily do without. Cellphones are great for long trips. Otherwise they are just another toy in our society toy boxes. |
