I've just bought myself a new mobile and its a nice one. I've only had it a while but I would already recommend it.

It really more than a mobile, its actually a decent digital camera, radio and Mp3 player as well.

The camera is 2 mega pixels, which is high for a phone. I'll put some pics up at some point so you can see the quality. It can also do short video.

The MP3 and radio are nice, with a decent speaker build in as well as headphones - making it a decent MP3 player.

The phone uses Memory Sticks, and can take up to a 2GB card so thats room for plenty of music, photos etc.

I'm please with it and a little amazed at the way even in my life time technology has advanced so much. I remember using BBC basic computers at school and now I've got a device small enough to fit into my hand that is considerably more powerful. Imagine what the future holds.

Vodaphone shops. They are avaliable only with a contract of £20 a month or greater but they come free with contract. The £20 contract comes with 125 free minutes of talk time a month, a extra hour of free talk time a night and 150 free texts a months

The memory cards costs about £40-100 depending on size if you want to upgrade although the phone included a 64mb card to get you started. Now I sound like a sales rep :)

^ Hey ds! Is that one of the Trekiverse engineering panels in the background? :D

Nice phone. However I am satisfied with my latest camera phone - A Nokia 3085i.
I just need to buy a cellphone adaptor and a USB cable to download its images to my PC. I don't need anything else. Posted Image

Yet. :P

You could email any pictures you have taken with your phone directly from the phone (but it probably isn't exactly an user friendly process from what I have seen of it - I've fiddled with it and sent myself a picture - like I said more bother than it's worth).

I can with my Nokia 6230 , only I can't be bothered (taking photos with the phone or using it to email).

The data-cable for my phone costs $AUS 60. So I can't be bothered buying one.

A USB-Phone cable was bundled with the phone and so its quite easy to do transfers. This is how is handles outdoor shots. It actually appears even clearer than this when you transfer it to PC but the conversion to JPG format to put it on here looses a little of the quality. Nevertheless its a perfectly acceptable quality of image for most purposes.

Don't make me use my bare hands on you.
I have never had a mobile phone. I figure if I got one, people would start calling me. Really, though I have never had the need for one and I don't ever use the land line phone I have at home anyway. I certainly don't want another @#*&%@! phone bill.

In fact, if my phone at home is ringing and I am busy, I can let it ring (it eventually stops). This bugs the crap out of my wife who has to know who is calling. I only answer my desk phone at work about half the time.

I don't see what is appealing about a phone that takes pictures and plays music. :headscratch:

Nice pic, ds, but my digital camera can do the same thing. There's nothing spectacular about my neighbourhood. It's too plain. Maybe I should consider moving to a newer community but at the moment I am committed to a major renovation project and won't be able to go anywhere for another five years. Currently I am upgrading my windows (Not on my computers! :P ), replacing the carpet, upgrading the insulation and air circulation system and the furnance over the next five years. These are major undertaking however since my house is now more than thirty years old I think it's time to do so.

Quite simple 38. When you're out with the wife on another 4-5 hour shopping trip, you have a gadget to play with. I like the fact that there's a phone in mine because we were actually going to buy a digital phone so we could email pictures. Now we kind of got two for free. MP3 player would be nice too. There's all kinds of situations where you're forced to stand in line and patiently wait. With a cell phone with bells and whistles you don't have to be bored out of your mind at the bank, DMV, doctor's office, etc. I frequently check the news online and play Tetris when in such a situation. But to each their own.

Well the phone part is really useful for communication with other students, phoning home and being able to keep in touch if I go off to places. For instance it was nice to be able to phone up my Mum who was surprised to learn that I was talking from a boat on the Danube in Budapest. Things like that can be good.

Also the phone is good for safety if I go out cycling or that kind of thing. There have been times where somethings gone wrong with the bike and without a phone I would have faced a long walk to get back.

The camera bit is good for fun and its also useful for my uni course. There are often times, particularly when your greating plans and that kind of thing, that you want to illustrate them with photos of the area in question. Now I can do that easily.

The MP3 player/Radio is useful for when I go out on my daily walks and also on the four our train journey home.

So thats whats appealing - oh and it has a light which can flash out SOS in morse code.

Well since I needed one when I was on 24 hour call, and it was totally deductable as bonefide work expense. I bought one then.

My new one I got for $zip as my old one was in recharge mode - and was zapped by lightning - so the insurer bought it for me, I just had to choose the one I wanted (so long as it was worth less than $800) . It just happened to come with all the bells and whistles (but not the data-cable).
It lives in the glovebox , and is never used (except in emergencies) - I bought a $20 prepaid SIM - so no extra phone bill. I travels with me on my pocket when I have to travel, but is not kept turned on, it's just there if I need to make a call.

When the $20 credit is used - I'll buy a new prepaid SIM.

:rotfl: another one conned :loling:

These phone deals where you get 2 free handsets are a con, the only ones who win out are the phone companies who have given 2 mobiles away and so twice the number of calls will be made by the owners. ===> a very much bigger phone bill.

^^^ Not nescisarily.

I recently got a free upgrade to my phone. I had a really crappy Motorola that kept losing it's charge if I spoke for a couple of minutes. The battery was not removable and would have cost a fortune to replace. My new Nokia has a built in camera and a battery that lasts two weeks. And it can be replaced easily if something goes wrong.

On top of that my plan actually dropped $5 a month in price. I pay $20 Canadian a month with 100 weekday minutes and 1000 evening and weekend minutes. Since I average 30 minutes total a month that works just fine for me.

Oh - and since I have both TV and computer cable from this company I get another 10% off my bill and really only pay $18 per month.

I will probably get a second phone on the same line in a few years as a phone for my daughter. She will not exceed the minutes allowed unless she is willing to pay. Anyhow 1000 minutes should be enough even for a teen.
