I've noticed in the last few days, we've had quite an increase of members. Yes, I've probably asked this question before, but it never hurts to ask it again from time to time. Mainly for the newbies, but also for everyone else, how did you find out about Sistertrek? For me, Wichita (I knew her as Rose than) invited me and it's been fun ever since. |

Apparently we look like this now

I abandoned ST.com, and didnt post on any board for a few months. One day, I decided to post at ST.com. Gabe saw my reply, and posted an invitation for me, and I saw it before they deleted it. I've been here ever since. |

I have looked around for a Trek board and they all seem really slow, no posting, few members. I have a board (not Trek related) elsewhere and there just weren't any good Trek ones on the whole network. I was researching starting a new board for some college pals of mine and was reading about the Invision boards, of which I've seen several but couldn't find an index, and when I finally did I found Sister Trek. Yay!!! |

I lurked at ST.com for a month or so before I joined. Once I joined, I didn't care much for spamming. I believe that was around the time of Great EXodus. I followed a link and ended up here. Home at last! |

My daughter has an IF forum. She was making the IF rounds to see if other forums would let her advertise her forum and then she would do the same for them. She found SisterTrek and said to me, "Mom, have I found a forum for you!" I am very grateful to her. |

^^^ I guess this means she earned her allowance for the week? I was one of the stragglers from ST.com that sought refuge here at the time of the Great Exodus. I was on vacation, came home and logged into ST.com and found a few threads telling me about this place before ST admin could delete them. That is one reason why I have not really gone back there much, even since the upgrade. The guys running the show had to know how bad the place had deteriorated at that point and were bound and determined to keep as many rats on that sinking ship as possible. I am glad the official boards have improved in the last year or so, but I still prefer the "community" sense I get here. |

Something Wicked This Fae Comes
|
The official story is that I was a regular member over a st.com. The boards were pretty crazy at the time and buckeyerose (Wichita here) posted a general invitation for people to come over and post here (temporarily/permanent...the plans for the message board were new and up in the air). I have been here since. However, I think it is equally plausible that my coming here was a part of some alien influence. This really bizarre thing happened to me the night before coming here. I had a dream that I was walking through the park one day when this alien appeared before me. He had a weird shaped head, big bulging eyeballs, a snotty substance running out of his nose, long lanky arms, tiny feet and really really bad breath. He began rambling on about this interstellar war taking place in the Second Dimension of Rilos. I of course didn’t know what the heck he was talking about. I figured he was some idiot who got drunk at a costume party and was wayyyyy too deep into roll playing. He seemed pretty harmless though, so I decided to entertain his ramblings for a short while. He goes on to describe the interstellar war. It was mainly between a group of High Adminian Overlords from the Fourth Planet of Com, a group of outlaw types called the Spam-o-nuts from the Second Planet of Chaos and a very peaceful (but strong in spirit) group of beings called Treeknacons from the Planet of Treek. I asked the “alien” what his name was and where he was from. He told me his name was Dantecava from the third moon of Nork Yew (which orbits Treek). I asked Dantecava why he was on Earth and he said that he was on the run from a Spam-o-nut scout ship. He asked me if I knew of a sanctuary where he could hide out until danger had passed and until it was safe again for him to travel freely. I thought this guy is definitely a freak, I better get rid of him. So I said that I didn’t know of anywhere where he could stay. It was at this point that a small remote controlled object flew by us. It began blinking red and scanning us. Dantecava yelped in fright at first, then got himself under control. He then pulled out an object that looked like a large diamond. He pushed a button on the diamond-like object, it lit up and emitted this breathtakingly beautiful light that overwhelmed the flying object’s sensors for a few seconds. The object sputtered about and ended up crashing into a tree. I asked Dantecava what the flying object was, and he said it was a Spam-o-nut probe. I just looked at him, finally realizing that Dantecava was in fact an alien. I was a bit shocked by this realization. I mean, I was actually talking to an Extraterrestrial!! Anyway, I asked Dantecava if he thought the probe had had enough time to report back to its mother ship. He looked at me like I had said something weird or funny. I said sorry, I watched Independence Day the week before, and “mother ship” was the first thing that came to mind when describing where the probe launched from. He just smiled like he knew about the movie and went on to say the probe had probably not transmitted any data to the primary conjunctor. I thought, “primary conjunctor?” Heck, at least mother ship made sense. :rolleyes:Dantecava picked up the probe and turned to leave when a billboard across the street just blinked to life and flashed two words, “Sister” and “buckeye.” We both looked at each other inquisitively and thought “how bizarre.” Dantecava shrugged and smiled. He turned towards me, looked down and sort of shuffled his little feet and thanked me for spending so much time with him. He explained that it was his extreme honor to be in my presence. Apparently the females on Nork Yew are held in very high esteem. ![]() He walked a little towards my left, tapped a small box in his hand, waved goodbye and disappeared. I thought “what an interesting little fella. However, don’t they have mouthwash on Nork Yew?” Man, his breath was boomin’! That’s when I woke up. Imagine my surprise when I saw an invite to Sister Trek from buckeyerose the next day on the boards. I’m still trying to figure out that connection.

I think Wichita hit on the ultimate message board recruitment technique... Maybe we need to change her name to Witchie-poo? |
