Thanks again, Mike. I owe you a pint. You will find it in Morn's closet in the Brass Lounge BBS waiting for you. Cheers. :D Posted Image

AAR with the introduction of these revoluntionary game console systems, do you think it's possible to bring holographic technology into the average consumer's home similar to the Trekiverse holo-deck or interactive holo-graphic characters like the Matrix to bring the gaming experience to the next level? :headscratch:

I have heard rumours that some company is working on something like that, but it wouldn't be like the Holodecks, probably just very simple.

I'll try and find something on it.

I'll have to take you up on that pint Digi! :D

Nah, consoles and games come as one. You can't have one without the other.

Well you can, it just wouldn't be very exciting. ;)

Game Boy Micro won't be comparable to PSP, as it will only play Gameboy Advance games.
According to Nintendo's president, their next-gen console (called the Revolution) will represent a major change in gaming systems. He won't give specifics, but he says that it involves the whole controller-console-television interaction system.
As far as I'm concerned, XBox 360 will be the king of the next-gen systems. I've seen footage from several games that will be available at launch, and they look incredible. Plus, there's no way that PS3 will have more capabilities than the 360.
Here's a question.
Considering the processing power of these game systems, why has no one developed business or financial programs for them? Basic computer setups can run into the thousands of dollars. The XBox 360 will cost, like, 500 bucks, right? If you could do your taxes and run other sorts of domestic management programs on your game system...
Is that not a huge market into which Microsoft or Sony could tap?

I hear the new Nintendo will allow you to download old school Nintendo games from the NES and Super NES (for a fee of course) and save it to a hard drive on the system. :woohoo:

Sorry slick, but it has been confirmed that the PS3 is at least twice as powerful as the 360.

I'll link you to the specs.
PS3 Specs...
XBox 360 specs...
Now, I'm not an expert, but nothing here suggests to me that the PS3 is twice as powerful as the 360.

hmm, okay Slick you got me there. I must have read a dodgy site, but IGN is reputable, as is Xbox.com.

But, then again, I wouldn't be suprised if both of them underperform. Remember what happened with the PS2?

If they're not performing, maybe you could get them some Viagra. ;)

Noah,

The really cool thing will be the next-gen systems' ability to download new content for old games. Like new levels or characters. This'll only add value to the software.

I've got both systems and I didn't know that you could do that.
Oh, well. I never have gone online with my systems. Never had the urge.
There's probably nothing to download for the games I like anyway.

Then you definitely hadn't played SIMS Online yet. It's definitely one game you should consider.

I was with Everquest Online for awhile before they raised the membership access fees. Now I don't go there anymore.

Downloading updates to old games is a great idea. However there's no way of storing them since the game console's hard drives are not design for storing game updates.
