Drugstore begins selling disposable camcorder

CVS on Monday began selling a disposable digital camcorder...

The $29.99 pocket-size camcorder was developed by Pure Digital Technologies...

The camcorder weighs under 5 ounces and holds 20 minutes of digital video and sound. It features a 1.4 inch color playback screen and an ability to delete video, and it saves video on a memory chip instead of tapes but it has no zooming capability.

This might be something very useful in a pinch.

Wow, that's like renting a movie a few times instead of buying it from the start...

I was thinking that she'd use one to make another porn video. I'm sure that's what a lot of these will go to, and the results will of course be posted on the web...

Why would you want one ?

I would much rather have a system that is fully capable and will last me for years and years , and would produce recordings that I can keep .

Paris Hilton - comments - no comment - she's just a tart.

If you found yourself to be somewhere that you couldn't easily run home and grab your machine, but you really wanted to film something, that would be cool.

If you wanted someone else to film something, but didn't trust them with the expensive machine.

Maybe at a wedding reception or something, you pass out 5 or 6 of them to your friends and get a lot of video from your reception from different perspectives.

You could do a lot of neat things with it.

I have a NOKIA 6230 , it would use it to get some video if I REALLY felt compelled to record the event , otherwise , I would not be overly put out by not having the ability to record it .

Go to any wedding reception , there is aways at least one or two video cameras floating about . You get the name and address and phone number of the owners and ask them to send you a tape or DVD of the festivities . Easy .
Or you hire a system on the way to it .

Something Wicked This Fae Comes
This will absolutely be a great product for various occasions. Maybe you don’t want to invest in video camera, but you would like one for a specific occasion.

Then there are all of the occasions 38957 mentions. They will especially be popular at weddings and parties where the hosts will want to collect footage from all kinds of angles (maybe for a montage). It has become popular to hand out one-time instant cameras to get different angles for events and the guests enjoy using them.

In the long-term though, it would be cheaper to purchase a video camera if you plan to continue video taping your special occasions (or whatever).

I'm thinking of buying a few of these for my wedding. You know how people often put disposable cameras on tables and do a photo montage? ("We're gonna need a monnn-tage!") Some of these things and we can add to the video we'll make, showing a bunch of realtors, ex-Navy guys, and some mutual friends (and of course, my family)!

Disposable still cameras are what, 8 bucks apiece? So these are a bit more, but still, a cool thing!

Or - you could hire several HD videocams that you perhaps set up around the reception venue in strategic locations and record directly onto the HDD of your laptop.

I would imagine since the the videocams discussed above are cheap throw aways , the optics and image quality will be pretty poor.

So are disposable cameras. (photo quality)

I want my guests to have fun with something out of the ordinary. At the same time, the wedding and reception will not be an extravaganza. We only want our families and 124 of our closest friends there...
