TU's latest idea...; *sigh*

Well, I guess their persistence is admirable, but there also comes a point when it is futile. The show has been cancelled, period. Star Trek is taking a break, period. It will still survive this break nonetheless.

Letter campaigns have been effective in the past. This, however, seems quite wasteful to me. I know their idea is to get enough volume of boxes sent to Mr. Moonves in order to make a visual impact, but it's probably just going to be more annoying for his staff members and the postal carriers than anything else! And you have to know that all those empty boxes are going to end up in the trash. So we have a big waste of paper products from trees (the boxes), a big waste of the efforts of our Postal Service, Moonves himself may not even actually see the boxes anyway (surely he has hired staff to sort the mail before it reaches his desk), and lots of boxes ending up in our landfills.

Actually, did you know that there were never any "negotiations" or "talks" between TU and Paramount ? Sorry, never happened. Paramount's lawyers told them not to have anything to do with TU. The closest that happened was some message left on the answering machine of some lower echelon Paramount exec.

Nor were there ever any major financiers (Arab oil sheiks or Billy Gates) that expressed any interest in buying into or subsidizing the Enterprise franchise.

Trek United is just a fantasy. Just Tim Braziel's pet project. His little messianic "hope" club. And don't forget to send money.

Sorry.

They are supposed to include letters inside the box.

If TU insists on continuing with the campaign, then they should focus on a major, and on-going, letter writing campaign to all of the major Execs at Paramount and Viacom. That would probably do a better job at grabbing their attention IMO.

This won't get Enterprise back, but it will keep Star Trek closer to the forefront of their minds (instead of filing Trek away for a decade).

Apparently we look like this now
Couldnt this also cause important packages to be late?

^^Can't be sure, but I would imagine all of these boxes (if there is a large quantity of them) will only create more of a hassle for the U.S. Postal Service.

Maybe there sending the boxes to cut down costs on the next season, they could build the sets out of all these boxes and hell maybe even create cut outs of the characters, going off some pof the actors there acting couldn't be any worse as cardbord

^^^ Knowing TU, that just might be one of their motives for sending the boxes.

I received this Email this morning. I do not have a link, but I thought it might interest some Board members.

****************

Dear TU Supporter,

It has come to the attention of a number of Star Trek fans that the cast of Enterprise may feel personally responsible for the series' cancellation. In comments made during interviews or to individual fans, some of the actors have made statements that suggest that they feel somewhat at fault for the premature end of Enterprise. Although Paramount has issued several press releases about the cancellation, in none of these has the corporation explicitly thanked the cast for their efforts or complimented them on their fine work, which may have contributed to the actors' misconception.

TrekUnited wants to let these talented individuals know that their work on Enterprise was outstanding, and that it was very much appreciated by the fans. To that end, we would like to urge our supporters to participate in TU's "Letters to the Actors" project. If possible, take a minute or two and write an email to as many of the Enterprise cast as possible. If you are having a difficult time figuring out what to say or who to write to, here are some suggestions:

1. Make the letter as to the point as possible. Remember: the best ones come from the heart!
2. Mention a particular scene or episode that the actor made memorable for you.
3. For obvious reasons, we’re asking everyone from large fan groups dedicated to Bakula, Trinneer, or Blalock to also write a letter to Dominic Keating, John Billingsley, Linda Park or Anthony Montgomery if time permits.
4. Send your letters to these corresponding email addresses:

Scott Bakula: scottbakula@trekunited.com
John Billingsley: johnbillingsley@trekunited.com
Jolene Blalock: joleneblalock@trekunited.com
Dominic Keating: dominickeating@trekunited.com
Anthony Montgomery: anthonymontgomery@trekunited.com
Linda Park: lindapark@trekunited.com
Connor Trinneer: connortrinneer@trekunited.com
Jeffrey Combs: jeffreycombs@trekunited.com
Manny Coto: mannycoto@trekunited.com

The deadline for submitting your letters is July 8, 2005. As ever, thank you for your time, passion, and energy! With just a little bit of effort, we can repay these talented individuals for the hours of enjoyment they have afforded us.

Regards,

TU Staff

Trek United says that mailing empty boxes to programming executives has worked in the past.
When?
For what show?

And they want me to send a message to Anthony Montgomery thanking him for his fine acting work on Enterprise?
Are they joking?
They must be.
This is all just a big joke.
No one can be this pathetically desperate to get what was mostly a poor TV show back on the air, even a Star Trek fan.
