Well, in America we have the right to protest, and in South Korea, another democracy, I think they have the same right. I think as long as they are not harming anyone, they should be allowed to continue. |

^^^ I agree with that. But it is tough to know if it will be handled that way. Once there are strong enough conflicting emotions involved, things tend to get ugly. |

^^^ Seriously? That's good to hear. I suppose there might be some correlation between the amount of protestors and the level of discord. Were the ones you attended large or small? |

Been to all sizes. The largest was 2003 in downtown San Francisco the first day of bombing Iraq. There were a reported 100,000 people there, maybe more. Usually people who are harmed are those who are causing trouble. Seems the Anarchists have nothing better to do than crash peaceful protests and cause enough destruction to get arrested and give Fox something negative to talk about. |

I am glad someone finally said this. There is absolutely no proof (that I have seen) that these students are brainwashed or in the process of being brainwashed. |

Yes. I have yet to figure out what the purpose of Anarchy is. Whenever I see Fox reporting on a protest they frequently talk about how violent and unruly the protestors were, but amazingly, have no footage of said events.

In all actuality, I did not say that the students were brainwashed, gvok tossed that term out. What I DID say is that, when you are in an environment where you are expected to learn, it is sometimes very difficult to weed out the propoganda from the teachings. I would point again to the Red Guard of China. In South Korea, from what I have read, it seems to come in the form of disinformation. The students aren't told what exactly happened during the 50's. They do not know how close they were to living in a totalitarian society. Add a little anti-American sentiment into that and there you have it. Students are protesting the only people that are keeping all that NK artillary from crashing down into Seol while hordes of infantry cross the border to rape and pillage. So no, I don't think they are merely "expressing their opinion". They are out there for political points and publicity. |

It is true that we are often taught lies early in our education. The whole thing with Washington and the cherry tree? Yeah, didn't happen. How about the first Thanksgiving? Again, didn't happen. I wonder why we still perpetuate these lies.
