A few do, but I think most are more worried about getting reelected than anything else.

Don't make me use my bare hands on you.
I am NOT a Libertarian.

I am completely in favor of restrictions on and/or banning of the following:

  • abortion
  • gambling
  • prostitution
  • recreational drugs
  • hard liquor
That should get me kicked out of the Libertarian Party pretty quickly.

38957,

I thought it best to let you defend yourself against those horrible accusations leveled against you by Dr. Noah. :D ;) <<<<<

Noah,

I misunderstood you--sorry. I thought you were speaking only of the current President and his entourage.

Anyway, I am against poker casinos in Texas. I am in favor of home games. Not everyone can play poker responsibly and I don't want to see it rampant in my State. I would never play poker with my family's grocery money, but there are many that will. And, I'll take this money away from them quite consistently.

BTW, i won $37.50 playing pot limit hold 'em Friday night.

How do you keep "home games" from getting out of hand?

The people that I play with don't get out of hand. If they did, I would play poker with them. Also, we don't play for that much money. The most that anyone has lost in a game that I play in has been about $60. If that is a lot, you shouldn't be playing poker with it.

I meant if you're going to outlaw gambling, how would you keep home games from getting out of hand?

Seems like if you made gambling illegal you'd end up with speakeasys again.

Home games are not illegal. Only games in which one party has an unfair advantage, as the house does in a casino.

You can have a home game or tournament, but the host (or anybody else) cannot have a chance to make more money than anyone else from the event. No cover, no rake, no selling drinks, no cut of the prizes, just fair poker. That is acceptable to me, but no casinos.

This is the current law in Texas.

38957,

I will admit that I found it difficult and somewhat disheartening when I took much money from my friends while in High School. We had a rule, however--the big winner of the evening (or early morning, since we frequently played until the wee hours of the morning) took everyone else out to eat breakfast the next day.

My winnings will probably never be significant enough to report on my income tax return.

BTW, California has legal poker casinos. It was ruled that Poker is a game and not gambling.

There are Texas politicians who want to legalize gambling to pay for schools. I want to know where the lottery money went. It was s'pose to pay for schools. I am opposed to legalized gambling. I think we will pay a much higher price societally than what we would gain through education.
