How do you figure?  Are you saying federal revenue has nothing to do with federal spending?  It's thinking like that that has gotten this country into such terrible debt, don't you think?

How has lack of tax revenue in any way limited government spending and borrowing in recent history?

The government cannot continue run deficits indefinitely. Eventyally it will come back to bite us (our children actually).

Yeah, no kidding, I agree completely. It'll probably bite my butt when I retire (if I let it) as I don't think that Bush's social securtiy reforms will go anywhere as the fear mongering machine will be turned up to the highest level.

Either spending should be cut or taxes should be raised. I don't care so long as we don't continue to have these irresponsible budgets.

That said, I don't think we should save money by screwing the vetrans who risked life and limb for our country.

Gvok,

I agree with half of that. I still think that raising taxes would cripple the economy in the long run.

If somebody gave me the budget axe, I would have people cursing my name in every state from both sides of the aisle and in most foriegn countries. I can dream, I guess.

I did hear Frist say a day or two ago that the next budget would be smaller than the last in terms of deficit. I don't know the number, just that he said it.

If this is true, would this not be a step in the right direction?

I suppose. But we don't need a step, we need to stop the bleeding. Let's go down the list of things that we want the government to spend money on, prioritize them, begin funding them and then when money runs out, quit funding. That is pretty simple. I do it once a month.

Good advice. I am assuming that it is that simple. Can it be? Maybe. It sounds like you need a campaign manager. ;)

Agreed, unfortunately. Maybe Gvok and you could run as a split ticket, and I will deflect all of the bullets from both of you with my Jessica Alba-like (for CP ;)) genetic enhancements.

You sound most like a libertarian to me 38. I really wish we had better third party representation in the US. Then maybe our elected representatives would actually stand for something.
