I knew the Minuteman Project would cause serious trouble one day, and it would appear that the day is drawing nearer. Check out their website. Extremist groups on one side of an issue always bring out the extremists on the other side of the issue, and these Aztlan guys appear unafraid to use threats and intimidation to promote their cause. How long before they start protesting in the areas where the Minutemen are 'patrolling' the border? Also, and I mention this only in passing, the ultimate goal of La Voz de Aztlan is a separate Mexican state inside the U.S. borders, somewhere in the southwest corner on the country. Now I know that some of these people are American citizens, but I can only say one thing to this. There is already a separate Mexican state. It's called Mexico, and if you aren't happy living here, it's a really short trip. |

Geesh, put some disclaimers on that link. I hope I didn't just end up on some domestic terrorist watch list for clicking on the site. I have never heard of them. It is a recipe for disaster having different civilian groups patrol the border anyway. Especially when you have groups like "La Voz de Aztlan" running around. We desperately need for the gov't to step in here and do their job so this border patrol issue doesn't get out of hand. P.S. Dear US Government: If you are reading this, I love my country dearly and do not support the garbage that is linked on the "LA VOZ" site. Signed, 24. |

Comparing some folks who want the border secured to those involved with "La Voz de Aztlan" is ridiculous. These people are beyond the beyond. The call lesbians demonic, and want a return to the Aztec law that requires disembowelment for homosexuals. They blame the Jews for the political problems in Los Angeles and call for the death of any Latina woman who marries either white trash or a black person. Yeah, exactly the same as some people who sat in lounge chairs on the border with binoculars. No difference whatsoever. |

You ain't kidding, 24. These guys are completely twisted. Nor are you wrong in your other points. The Minutemen are not harmless. Even if they never touch an illegal, there are other more extreme groups who will show up in support of Minuteman who have no qualms with assaulting illegals. And when these Aztlan guys finally do show up near the Minuteman border sites, look out. Also, it demonstrates a great deal of irresponsibility by the Bush administration to allow the INS to reduce its number of interdictions in, and pull agents from, the area where the Minutemen are currently stationed. I thought the DHS was supposed to look out for that kind of thing, but I guess I was wrong. |

Psyfi, have you read any of the stuff being put out by some of the people involved with the Minuteman Project? Or those who support it? It's just as racist and dangerous as the Aztlan crap. |

I haven't heard of these guys, but I do remember the nation of Aztlan being championed by the group MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan). |

I have seen the leaders of the project interviewed many times along with various people there. I've gone to their website and it seems fine to me. Now, do I think that there are racists that are using the Minuteman project for their own hateful purposes? Yes, I do. But the people in the project, from what I have seen, are not advocating racist stuff. In fact, if you go to their website, you can see that many of these people ARE Hispanic-Americans. Hispanic-Americans also want secure borders. |

Considering where I live, this is a group that has turned up on occasion. They are usually considered a fringe group. For those who don't know, the community I reside in is probably about 70% Hispanic (predominantly Mexican ancestry). It's amazing here in some ways, you find Starbucks and taqueria's in short walking distance from each other...![]() ![]()

 Nope. Here in the US we have all kinds of separatists groups (Mexican, Native American, White, Black). A good majority of them are nothing more than hate groups. I found this site that tracks hate groups in the US. Tolerance.org |
