| Evidence that the president planed to go to war; long before he told the American people. | |

Tell us how going to war with Germany was a necessity? Why did we attack Germany first when Japan attacked us? |

I believe we had to build up our naval forces in the Pacific before we could begin to mount a counter offensive. |

Germany was a necessity because now that the war is over, and most of the secret information about it has been declassified, and after 60 years of contemplation we can truly understand the scope and purpose behind it. We also have the ability to fully see what the enemy had done and was planning to do. It reminds me of something ‘President’ Clinton said (In a discovery times show last night) about the dubious actions FDR took before the war (and during it). He said that FDR cam really close to being in violation of abuse of powers, that the only thing that saved him form that distinction was intent. Clinton said FDR’s intent for taking those dubious actions was to do what he thought was best for America. That intent keeps us form calling what he did leading up to the war an abuse of his powers (in fact we call him a hero for it). But the American people couldn’t have know this until after the war was over, and in most cases long after. If the American people had know what FDR was doing at the time he was doing it, first he would never have won a third term a isolationist who would have kept us out of that war for a long time would have won, and second he would have most likely been impeached. |

Gvok, I am not saying the actions (Japan 1941-1945; Iraq, 2001-???) were on a par. I am suggesting the war against Japan was probably not as 'clean' as the war against Hitler. However, both actions were part of the same war. |
