Are you in favor of fuel cells or not?

Does it matter?

Yeah, I was wondering if 24 was for or against. I couldn't tell if 24 was ridiculing the fuel cells or President Bush or both.

However, I will answer your question anyway. I was ridiculing the current system that is designed against the promotion of alternative fuels such as hydrogen.

I do not think our government or the private sector will do enough to promote the mass marketing of fuel cell cars run on hydrogen by 15 years from now. Most people are still stuck in the petroleum mindset.

I do think promoting and supporting alternative fuels is a commendable undertaking. In that respect, I appreciate that Bush is making some kind of effort.

However, I was joking a little at Bush with the linked picture. Is that okay with you?

Does it matter if you are in favor of fuel cells or not? I was just asking, but I guess it doesn't matter.

Is it okay with me that you were making a joke a Bush's expense? I don't give an at's rass. Have I ever said anything to lead you to believe otherwize. I was just trying to understand your position. Apparently you posted all this in order to make a joke rather than take a position on an issue. Try the Kickback Forum

Apparently you are wrong.

Only one part of my post was humorous. My second and immediate reply on this thread was not.

People post threads all the time in this manner (an article with a comment or two). I even went a step further and posted a second serious reply.

Why the hostility towards me?

I asked if you were in favor of fuel cells and you bit my friggin' head off. Geeze, I won't ask you questions any more.

Your questions were hostile. At least they appeared that way to me. That is why I reacted the way I did. If you were not being antagonistic initially, then I apologize for my reaction.

When you ask a question in that format, it denotes antagonism. Just imagine someone standing there with their hand on their hip asking you a snotty question like, “Are you in favor of fuel cells or not?” That is how I took it.

Regardless, I meant all of your questions (made directly to me and indirectly through comments to others).

I didn't even reply to you until after you made this comment to gvok:

Listen, this is being blown out of proportion. An obvious case of miscommunication. I have apologized for my reaction once.

I am through with this side conversation.

C'mon.
What has Bush really done to promote alternative energy?
He'll do anything in his power to make it easier for the oil companies to continue to gouge us at the pumps, but has he ever pushed for a tax break to alt-energy companies?
No. His calls for Congress to work up an energy bill are entirely too vague. Does he want to give the small alt-energy companies tax breaks? Does he want to establish large grants for universities doing research in this field?
Or will he simply give big oil more tax breaks so they can 'go to work on the alternative fuel problem'?
You know, some guy started something called the X-Prize that promised a lot of money to the first person who could put a reusable civilian vehicle into space.
Where's the alternative energy prize? An incentive like that would instigate so much work in the field that we'd have answers to our energy problems before we knew it.
But you'll never see the President get behind something like that.

One of the things that will be a determining factor in getting more hydrogen-run cars onto the roads will be whether or not there are readily-availably refueling stations for them. So far, if this station mentioned in the article is the first and only one (to date), then how many people will want to purchase a hydrogen-fueled car? They'd be stuck driving only within a certain radius of that fuel station, and perhaps never able to take their car out of state.

Along with the development of hydrogen-fueled cars will have to come the distribution of the hydrogen fuel to stations all across the country. I wouldn't think that it would be too terribly difficult to convert some kind of existing storage tank and fuel pump so that it dispenses hydrogen fuel instead of gasoline, but it will have to happen at nearly all stations for the use of hydrogen cars to become widespread.

It's going to be a long process, but one well worth the effort. If we can stop giving billions of dollars of American money to evil MidEast dictators, I would be willing to be inconvenienced. Lots of people drive in a relatively small area.

taken with the rest of my comments I can understand the defensiveness. I will henceforth, forget all of this.

It should hopefully work like LPG has in this country. At the start only a handfull of garages had LPG. Now that the number of potential customers, and therefore demand, has risen so has avaliable supply.
