Well, I have taken several science and philosophy courses, and while philosophy is interesting and has its place, it is unable to undermine the truth of the knowledge we have gained from science over the past few centuries. |

Here is the bottom line. There is a difference between what science observes and what scientists come up with to explain observances. Frequently, the explanations are as riddled with untestable theories as religion. Calling these explanations Truth is a call based on faith, not logic. Now are there good reasons to place our faith in science? Sure, but let's not kid ourselves that it is faith we are placing. |

I challange you to give me one untestable theory. Theories are obviously not solid laws, but they are based on factual information. I think there are a lot of people with something to gain from casting a lot of doubt on science. I don't think Alan Shepherd or John Glenn doubted sceince when they strapped themselves to a couple hydrogen tanks and flew outside the atmosphere and into cold space filled with hard deadly radiation. |

I am against the invitro fertilization process in which multiple embryos are created with the intent of destroying most of them in a shotgun attempt at pregnancy. It is abusive of human life, and there is no need. We do NOT have a fertility problem in this world and there are other options for parenting kids. How 'bout adoption? An embryo is a human organism, the same as I am. |

Fair enough. I'm glad you're consistent in your philosophy.

38597, Amen. That's what happens when some are devoid of belief in a higher power. They themselves take on the role of a 'god.' |

However, since there are embryos slated for destruction, wouldn't it make sense, especially from a "culture of life" point of view to allow them to keep living in order to save someone else's life? |

How does destroying them to harvest stem cells allow them to keep living? They should not be created in the first place. Once created, they should not be used for medical experiments. Your "culture of life" comment makes no sense. Should little cute bunny-rabbits be used for medical experiments? |

These groups of cells are grown to make new tissue and organs, so in a sense they go on living. BTW: Cute little bunny rabbits as well as many other animals are used for medical experiments frequently. |

So, by that logic I can hit you on the head, steal your liver and put in someone else and, in a sense, you will go on living. Nice. They aren't used for that, they are used for experiments anyway. And I know about the bunnies, that is why I posted the question. |

If that's the way you want to look at it. I'm just saying these embryos are going to be destroyed one way or the other, wouldn't it make sense to use them to help save lives? |

Did anyone answer my analagous question with deathrow inmates? How about terminally ill patients? Old people? AIDS victims? |
