Apparently we look like this now

When I lost the radio station I usually listen to when I was on my way to my job interview, I started flipping through the stations. I found one where they were discussing stem cell research. I recognized the voice, but couldnt quite put my ringer on it. It was Jerry Springer. Turns out that a small AM radio station in Columbia, SC carries Air America. (you cant get it unless you're within Columbia's city limits) Anyway, he was ranting and raving about how stem cell research is the most important issue facing America today. He said that it is more important for us as a country to be concerned about stem cells than security from terrorists because it will lead to a cure for cancer, Parkinsons, etc. He said that 99.9% of us will die from some "terrible" disease, and stem cell research will be able to prevent this. What, does he think this will give us immortality??? He said that we should be more concerned with preventing these deaths than we should be about "the small amount of people who would die if a building came down." He also said that the US is no longer the leader in scientific research if President Bush vetos this bill. His callers were downright crazy. One woman said "I know the REAL reason why the President doesnt want stem cell research to go through is because if it did, all of his buddies in the pharmaceutical industry would go out of business." Springer actually entertained that "theory" He said "Although that MAY or MAY NOT be the case, even if stem cell research did come up with cures, there would still be SOME need for perscriptions."Another caller said "President Bush's objection to stem cell research is a personal attack on MY beliefs. The president is saying that because I want the research, that I am a bad Christian!" I dont recall ever hearing the President say anything of the sort. There were also promos from other shows. Jeneane Garafolo whining about how if you're a Republican, you've sold your soul...Another talk show host had a promo saying that "the right" hates the black people. The right calls them lazy. How condescending is that??? (He was talking about the welfare class, and how the evil right wing Republicans doesnt give them anything other than more liquor stores, but instead of saying welfare class like I just did, because this laziness is colorblind, and I know it, he said "black") Thats a load of crap. For one, the government lets these people live generation after generation for free. These people live on government money, and use it to buy fresh cut steaks, and renting big screen TVs, and very nice cars, but wont get a job. At least ONCE A WEEK, someone comes into my store, trying to get us to sign their unemployment papers to say that they applied for a job, yet they dont want an application. If that isnt lazy, I dont know what is. If this is the best that the left can come up with in terms of talk radio, its no wonder Air America is such a joke.

According to studies that I have read, most people will eventually die from something. |

Isn't there room for both in this world? Ok every one sing that song form "Pete's Dragon (Disney Gold Classic Collection) (1977)" There's room for everyone in this world If everyone makes some room Won't you move over and share this world Everyone make some room . . . There's room for everyone in this world Will everyone make some room . . . There's room for everyone in this world Back up and make some room Let's all move over and share this world Everyone make some room . . . Just think how far out the ocean goes, the whirling wind blows Shore to shore, door to door. Think of the valleys, the mountaintops, the Earth never stops. So deep so high, with miles of sky, we all have part of the pie. There's room for everyone in this world, Will everyone make some room. Love given freely can spare this world, Let friendly feelings bloom! Just give an inch, give a yard, never flinch When the time comes to offer a hand, So let's all make sure we give everyone somewhere to stand Just the way God planned it, just the way God planned. |

People will eventually die from something, but without medical technology, we/they would die a lot sooner. By increasing our knowledge of medical technology we can further extend the quantity and quality of life. |

Whadaya expect from a bunch of crazed, religious, right-wing extremists? But it was Ted Nugent who said "some people think they're gonna die some day, I got news, you never got to go." And Clinton's Surgeon General, Joycelyn Elders who stated quite profoundly that "most people eventually die from something." I'd like to see research into why funerals are so darned expensive. I ought to be able to be thrown in a friggin' pine box and chucked in a hole in the ground (after I am dead, of course) without having to pay some funeral director $10 grand for unnecessary 'services'. It is a crime what laws have been written to screw the families of the recently disceased. |

I wonder if that was Hitler's arguement for the research he had performed. |

Praise Stem Cell Research, Oh my soul. While I live will I praise Stem Cell Research. I will sing praises unto Stem Cell Research while I have being. Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. But happy is he that hath Stem Cell Research, whose hope is in Stem Cell Research. Just thought that Air America ought to have a little psalm for its latest god. |

So, if stem cell research is their god, then SUV's must be their devil....No, President Bush is their devil....No, GWB would be their antichrist if stem cell research is their god. Who would their devil be? Neal Boortz maybe? |

Why am I not surprised Hitler was brought into this conversation. Oh well, everyone is entitled to an opinion (whatever that may be). I personally do not equate stem-cell research to those kinds of experiments conducted by Josef Mengele and his ilk. I'm not saying you do (i.e. I am not putting words in your mouth, just stating my opinion on the subject). |

I've been listening to Mike Reagan, who has done a lot of research into this, and he says that embryonic stem cell research is nothing more than junk science. Every lab rat and mouse that embryonic stem cells have been injected into have had tumors and cancer appear. There is much better success with bone marrow and cord blood stem cells. There was a story several months ago about a women that was paralized, but was given cord blood stem cells, and walked again. Paralyzed Woman Walks |

Actually, 24, a great deal of medical scientific knowledge came from Nazi experiments in the death camps. For example, how the human body tolerates heat, vacuum, and especially cold came from human experimentation. Hypothermia charts used today came from cold water experiments, for example. Disgusting, but true. Some of the reasoning at the time was to help German soldiers survive to fight in temperature extremes, like those found in the Soviet campaign. |
