Fox News Viewership Falls 58% Since Election

April '05 marks "the sixth consecutive month where FNC declined versus prior month in M-F, primetime P25-54 (every month since Nov '04)," CNN's press release says. The 25-54 demo is coveted by advertisers. One insider called it a "downward spiral." FNC still has more demo viewers than CNN, though (443k vs. 304k in April).
Here are FNC's month-by-month weekday primetime averages in the 25-54 demographic:

Oct. 04: 1,074,000 /
Nov. 04: 891,000 /
Dec. 04: 568,000 /
Jan. 05: 564,000 /
Feb. 05: 520,000 /
March 05: 498,000 /
April 05: 445,000

This is a 58% drop in 6 months

Also: In April 2005, FNC's weekday primetime demo average decreased 25% compared to the year-ago, while CNN increased 27%

It's just further proof that when Americans want the news, for example during a major election, they want to go to a source that's not reflexively anti-American and anti-republican. But now that the election is over, people are not as concerned with the news, so they are watching less of it.

Mark my words, if something major happens in the world to warrant large numbers of people watching the news and that news could be spun negatively against the United States, then you'll see increases in FoxNews viewship again.

^^Not necessarily. The American viewers could have simply loved the graphics and other pretty pictures FNC showed during the election. Ultimately, and possibly, they didn't deem the channel worthy enough to stick around afterwards.

How about a link to a source, Noah.

Also, in your zeal to attempt to flame Fox News Channel, did you check the ratings for CNN during the same time? How about CBS News, for that matter? :rotfl:

What about the neat war graphics when the US invaded Iraq?

Nope. You post the flame, you back it up.

Fair's fair.

Who's flaming? You don't consider this news? You brought up ratings for other networks, you post them.

BTW: I believe my article states a rise in CNN viewership.

Where was your original source? Too lazy to post a link?

Noah, I don't think you flamed at all. You simply posted information. Flaming is specifically directed at another person. At least that's how I see it.

I don't think you need to get offensive so early do you?

It wasn't laziness, it was simple forgetfulness. But I think the article is sourced by FCC figures.

I don't think I am flaming anyone. This is a news article.

Don't make me use my bare hands on you.
I have watched every American new channel (excluding CBS, what's the point) during coverage of the wars and election. They all had lots of over-dramatic music and flashy graphics. They were worse than attack of the clones in this respect. I don't see how one out did any of the others.

Another thought, does the same company that owns the CNN channels also own one of the largest cable companies in the US? For some strange reason, I get CNN with my current cable package, but not Fox News Channel, MSNBC or any of the others. :headscratch:

Closed for TOS violation.

The original poster failed to give credit to the article writer, was reminded of it, and still chose not to do so.

My hands are tied ....
