It sounds like a political power grab by McCain and others. McCain is positioning himself as a centrist candidate for the next election. It is just my opinion but I think the president's appointments should all get an up or down vote. I do not think the minority should be able to control by filibuster. I do support the filibuster for passing laws. |

When it comes to religious rights, I have some serious concerns about McCain, most especially because of his defense of and friendship with Warren Rudman who made some unbelievably disparaging remarks about Christian conservatives. |

I do not think that those in the middle of the road get run over. We elect the president and the senators. I think the president should be able to have his own appointments with a simple 50% majority of the senate. In terms of passing laws I think the bar should be higher and perhaps the current 60% is as it should be. There is really no need for a filibuster with the new rules on it. I think it should be removed and replaced by rules for a simple majority for appointments and a 60% majority for laws. |
