Arrgh!

Hey, saying I'm homophobic is like saying a resident alien is anti-immigration.

Relax, Dwayne. Don't go all Charlie Brown on me.
I'm only making sure.
You know there are people in the world who automatically dislike everything about San Francisco simply because 'those kind of people' live there.
It's a shame, too. It's one of my favorite cities of all time.

Actually, I was in Frisco last summer for two or three days. What a gorgeous city. The people are polite, and despite the population, in traffic most motorists were....curteous. Both my friend and I noticed it in comparison to Vancouver and the sorrounding "lower mainland", as we call it.

While taking in some nightlife and a couple of other 'arts' events, you wouldn't have even known that SF was some kind of "gay" (I hope that word's ok) mecca; at no time did anyone assume or insinuate that my (male) friend and I were "gay" or "hetero", nor did anyone seem to CARE.

As well, the political banter with various folks in coffee bars and restuarants didn't seem that politically "lefty" to me; when we discussed Iraq with SF natives, the conversation was usually about the concern over US troops and how long they will have to be there. There was very little of "Bush is an idiot" banter; most of the folks wanted to know what Canadians thought about the US in these times.

Strangely enough, we encountered as many neocons as liberals, with a sprinkling of techno-libertarians. I particularily enjoyed meeting a couple of people who had known Timothy Leary and John C. Lilly; some interesting stories about the 60's and 70's were discussed, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole SF atmosphere.
