Click Here There are 7 of my tunes there. The one I've been giving commentary on in the "My God This is Hard" thread is called "Down In Flames" Sadly, my acoustic guitar was damaged while it was in storage. The neck is warped, so it wasnt possible to get it in perfect tune, but its close enough...I may go back and re record it later though. For those of you with a slow connection, you can download the songs as well. ENJOY! and tell me what you think! EDIT: If you get a message saying that the songs havent been cleared, do what it says, and check back tomorrow.

Btw, I listened to "Down in Flames" the other night (and again just now), and I thought the instrumental was really good. It was very melodic and had what I thought was a Spanish undercurrent (which I usually like when coming from an acoustic guitar). |

8247, Congratulations on completing your work. Isn't taping extremely difficult at times? I bet you're glad that's done.

Nice acoustic piece. I like the vocal harmonies. Had the temptation around the three minute mark though to come in with my "cosmic strings" setting on my synth. Yeah, the guitar tuning is a little off. Did you detune the guitar down a bit for this recording ? (a trick I used to do with acoustics) A FAN |

No, the neck got warped, and I didnt notice it until I listened to it there. I'm going to record it again. Would you like to add a synth peice to it? I can send you my recording program, and a session disk. |

Wow, that would be cool. But right now my nephew's got most of my gear. He works at a recording studio in Vancouver and has a band on the side. (My influence, tragically ) He was going to be a botanist until back in 2000 when we started jamming and recording some stuff. We recently collaborated on a couple of instrumental/soundtrack rock things; when we both add synth you can hardly tell us apart. I've finished sort of remixing a few things from the last two or three years and I'm going to press them to a CD. My best takes still have some flaws that I couldn't get rid off (like too much reverb and some clumsy timing in places) but of course I'm likely being too self-critical. We kind of recorded a lot of stuff just for fun; it wasn't designed to be "popular" or genre oriented. But I still like listening to some of it, so how bad can it be ? I'll let you know when I'm ready and maybe we can exchange CD's. And yeah, further down the road it might be fun to collaborate. Franko. |

I use drum sampling and percussion effects often just from my Music Generator program off my PS2. I line the bedtrack (I can preprogramme digital effects in most cases) through my mixing board. From there other instrumentation can follow either going into my nephew's Mac computer or pre-mastering into my 8 track Tascam. Often in the past we would just do live takes over the bedtrack and press direct to CD while one of our friends sort of did "mixdown on the fly". Then I would repress the CD using an optical digital connection from my studio processor. Convoluted and confused, I know, but I didn't feel like using 10,000 dollaros worth of equipment to end up with results no better than what we sometimes get. My current laptop can't handle a music programme, unfortunately. My nephew is trying to talk me into getting a super-duper Mac computer which I'll probably do when finances allow. |
