How about a Voyager Movie

The Son of God as prophecized in the old testament. I study Jesus and his teachings. I base my conclusions upon what I feel in my heart from what I believe to be the Holy Spirit, from answers I KNOW I have recieved when praying to God, and from the Gift of Salvation that Jesus Christ has given me eternal life. My way to the Father is through Jesus, he would not have told me if it were not so, that he would prepare a room for me in Heaven... |

Since I am one of faith on this particular subject, and the question is "Who do you think Jesus was/is?", I will go with the first answer. |

I voted that he was a man. There is a fair amount of historical documentation that fits the idea that there was a man by the name of Jesus, or something very close. However a close examination of this man shows that he does not fit all the criteria as laid out in the Torah for the Messiah. Also, the Jewish version of the Messiah does not perceive the Messiah to be devine. Just a person who will perform certain tasks. |

Doesn't Messiah mean "the anointed one" which I thought meant a man with God poured over him and rubbed in? |

Yes - Messiah does mean annointed one. Here is a good essay about the Messiah from what has become my favorite Jewish learning website. Judaism 101: Moshiach: The Messiah

Minuet, When I read the Torah, I conclude just the opposite. However, two things are paramount to my conclusion: 1) I have never read it in the Hebrew; and 2) It is best to agree to disagree where Jews and Christians are divided. God will sort it all out in due course, providing an answer to peoples of both religions.

I think Jesus was a Jewish man. I think he is the Son of God. I think Jesus is our elder brother. I think Jesus is in charge of the Atonement process. I think his was the most influential life ever lived. |

Thanks Min. Part of the articles stated that, "The moshiach will bring about the political and spiritual redemption of the Jewish people by bringing us back to Israel and restoring Jerusalem (Isaiah 11:11-12; Jeremiah 23:8; 30:3; Hosea 3:4-5). He will establish a government in Israel that will be the center of all world government, both for Jews and gentiles (Isaiah 2:2-4; 11:10; 42:1). He will rebuild the Temple and re-establish its worship (Jeremiah 33:18). He will restore the religious court system of Israel and establish Jewish law as the law of the land (Jeremiah 33:15)." I think that Christians believe a lot of this also but they see it as happening in connection with the Return of Jesus. At least I think so. |
