Don't make me use my bare hands on you.
When one goes to work for someone, one engages in a contract. If their religious beliefs or personal convictions conflict with that contract, they should not enter into it.

I would never under any circumstance work for the IRS. If I was a doctor, I would not work for any hospital or clinic that performed baby murder.

I have personnally refused a job for more money as an engineer because I knew the guy offering the job and didn't want to be associated with him. It was my choice and I live with myself.

Amen. This is what I believe as well, particularly the part about not entering into a job once one has prior knowledge.

Speak softly, and carry a 57 megaton stick!
My point is that you cannot do something at your job that is forbidden. If the school board dictates that evolution is to be suppresed or removed from the curriculum, then teachers aren't going to be just able to ignore it and teach what they want any more then they would be able to teach things like racial superiority.

I understand. I believe that my swearing example would fit this criteria. :)

Why do I feel like I had this conversation already today

Minuet,

Because you and I mentioned the job aspect a couple of times, just not in response to one another. At least that is what I think occurred. :)

^^^ I was actually refering to a different thread. I found it funny that the same point came up for discussion.

So what happens if the Board of Education rules in favor of the intelligent design advocates due to the lack of a counterargument?  By favoring their own sensibilities over defending what they believe in, these scientists might just shoot themselves in the foot by having the thing that they would least desire occur.

Teachers can refuse to cooperate and teach it.

Does that mean they can refuse to teach the Theory of Evolution, too?

Somerled,

I agree.  The last thing we need is scientific dogma being taught as factual. :)

Or religious dogma :evil1:
Or pseudoscientific dogma :rotfl:
Or bad science as dogma :banghead:

Now don't get mad at Charles Darwin...
