Tonight is the conclusion of the two parter explaining the Klingon Ridges. The first part was pretty good. Join in here tonight with your reviews after the show. |

That whole transfer involving Trip from the Columbia to the Enterprise was one of the most farfetched scenes I have seen on Enterprise to date. Un freakin’ believable!  Overall, pretty good episode. The first part was a little better IMO. I think the writers handled the Klingon ridge issue brilliantly! Anyone else think the human looking Klingon, the one in the brig on Enterprise, looked kind of hot? I give this part
out of 5
P.S. Don't forget to vote online for your favorite top three episodes. I checked the UPN site and they haven't put the voting option up yet (in spite of the advertising on the commercials this evening). I'll check back later. |

Time to put something here

The episode was ok, they managed to change the Klingons with out destroying star trek lore and that is always a good thing. The tether seen was a little hokey but it was a little existing, as was the cold restart of the enterprise. All in all it wasn’t a great episode but it was ok for Trek, still better then most of the episodes of the first three seasons. What does every one else thinks? |

ImpulseEngine watching Divergence: "Wait, Enterprise is going over Warp 5 and that's almost it's maximum. Columbia can't go any faster, but somehow it catches up to Enterprise for the rendevous...?" ![]() [A few minutes later at the Trip transfer scene] "What???? Ya, r-i-i-i-i-g-g-g-h-h-t!!! Wouldn't he blow off the tether in the wind? Ok, maybe the warp field around the ships somehow protects him... " [ImpulseEngine feels like he's probably just making excuses for a bad scene. A minute or two later the tether goes flying backward in space through the so-called warp field protection  ] =============== Except for the above, the episode was good. I do think part 1 was better than part 2 though. Still, this was better than most of the episodes from previous seasons. Now that I have a better understanding of the explanation for the Klingon ridge discrepancy, I suppose it's acceptable. |

Okay, let me add my to the opening scene with Trip on a tether at warp and wonder how two cruisers that apparently have the same upper speed limit sees one catch up to the other with hardly any trouble at all. Also, maybe I missed something at the end of last week or at the very start of this one, but having Malcom let out of the brig for tether scene made no sense to me at all. Shouldn't that have been a job for whoever was filling in for him and a coupleof potentially disposable MACO's?The rest of the episode was good. Finished out last week's story well enough. I liked the portrayl of the Klingons again (John Schuck talking about his character's family background was particularly good). Now we have nice, neat, canon endorsed explanation for the Klingon forehead difference. I thought it was nice touch by beaming a flask of plague aboard the attacking Klingon command ship to get themselves the time to finish developing the cure. Nice to see Porthos again, too. All in all a good filler storyline. Not great, but a solid story.
No.
No wind in space. Still, the ships are propelled and Trip and the tether weren't and I would think that, since going too fast with these ships might cause them to exceed their stress limits causing them to fly apart, I'm pretty sure that neither Trip or his tether have been tested to see if they meet translight velocity specs. So, probably sitting inside the warpfield(s) kept Trip from getting left behind very quickly. |

I watched it last night it was okay. The whole tether thing was :yuck:. It was good to see John Schuck again. It took me a long time to figure out that the Klingon General was Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince o Bel-Air. It was okay compared to the other shows this season. I'll give it

Okay time for Captain Canuck to weigh in... Start with the usual rant about how nuts UPN and Paramount is for killing the series and possibly the franchise. Done. Talk about Les Moonves being the scourge of all Trek fans. Done. Mention B and B and how much better Manny Coto is making this season.
Done.On to the review. This finally, finally gives us a reason and canon material for the klingon discrepencies... and one that works well. I like the way it has been tied in neatly to the Augments, the Soong / Singh bloodline and Data. In fact by tracing through Trek history... Kahn Singh and his Genetic Supermen of the 1990's had far reaching effects into not only the future, but into other cultures as well. I like it and I like it a lot!Okay the tether scene was a bit much... but visually I think seeing two Enterprise class ships flying belly to belly was an absolutely amazing special effect. I really like when the camera zoomed between the ships and you could see Trip holding the tether and you realize just how small a person is compared to the ships. I thought it added to the urgency of the mission. THIS shows how desperate they are to succeed. While it seemed cheesy to some, I thought it was well done, added to the plot and was probably the coolest effect visually EVER presented in Trek. As for the physics behind it... there is no wind in space and as long as something is contained within the warp field it will travel at the same speed as the ship generating the warp field, hence no reason for Trip to go flying off into space. I agree 100% that Reed was not needed for the scene at all. He should have stayed in the brig and let the acting Tactical Officer do it... unless of course he was the ONLY one on the ship that could do it. Lets talk about Reed. I loved the character development in this arc for him. I loved the way he fought with hi loyalities to Archer and to Harris. I loved the way he and Archer played off each other and Archer got right in his face over loyalities and where do they lie. I think the Reed character has become more believeable then ever. Especially after his comments about being a young ensign looking for adventure. That really spoke about his personality and desires. I would love to see Mayweather and Sato get the same treatment now before the series gets killed by those UPN morons. I loved loved loved the one off line by Harris about "Article 14, Section 31" of the Starfleet Charter where extreme actions may be taken. Really nice segue into how Section 31 for its name. So now we know that its not actually an organization... but an ideal... a part of the Fleets charter and that REALLY adds to the intrigue of whose these people are. What else can I say. I liked the whole story line overall and I would love to see James Avery return at some point. I can see where his Klingon character could be just as compelling as General Martok. A battle hardened commander who is not beyond reason. While most people would look at John Schuck to return - which would be good too - I think James Avery's character is our first look at the true Klingon warrior and command caste. Besides, it was pretty cool seeing Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in Klingon makeup. Anyway, I liked it a lot. I think its among the best episodes this season and in the top 10 of the entire series run. I give it

Are you sure? I wondered about that, but then when I thought about it, I don't see how that's possible. There may be no natural wind (as in a breeze you would feel while standing still), but when moving at warp speed all it would take is the slightest atmospheric particles and it would have to cause wind. I suppose the warp field could block the wind though.
