If a Vonage commercial comes on, I immediately reach for the mute button. Otherwise I will have their incredibly irritating theme song stuck in my head all day, the one that goes: woo hoo...woo hoo hoo woo hoo...woo hoo hoo woo hoo woo hoo, etc. |

^^^ Psyfi, I don't know that one. Perhaps this is a good thing? Today, I have had the title track to Zoey 101 in my head. The rhythm has a very catchy syncope, and the harmonic movement presents a tonal center which is ambiguous and relatively unstable for a time, moving forward subdominantly before it achieves resolution. It is this requirement of resolution which drives the piece forward and gives it an inherent energy that is difficult to squelch. Interestingly, there is one (incomplete?) D consensus (with an accompanying vocal 9th!) that momentarily disrupts this punctuatingly gorgeous progression, which because of where it occurs and its prolongation, necessitates a repetition of the phrase's instability. In this way it is somewhat circular. |

Fes, I don't know the song you are referring to. However, I dimly recalled that the "woo hoo" song was in Kill Bill, Part I, so I looked it up and sure enough. It is by 5.6.7.8's, and if you look up "Kill Bill, Pt. I" at amazon.com, you can actually listen to some of it. But if you do this, beware. You will be sorry. The song has a life of its own and rattles around in the brain for hours. |

^^^ Neither do I. I was just referring to the one that you couldn't stand (the Vonage commercial one).

Wow. I thought you were talking about the song you mentioned in the first sentence. I couldn't even begin to think about beginning to analyze the woo hoo song to the extent you did. I just thought it was the repeated refrain and the dumb lyrics that bothered me so. |

Psyfi, Yes, the Vonage song that you alluded to is the one I don't know, and which I have never heard. The one I was analyzing I do know (from the t.v. show). I hope that makes more sense.

^^^ Psyfi, Great. The written word is so often misinterpreted. I try to be as clear as I can, but frequently fail. |
