And I believe that Welsby added some additional information to the script as well.

Only the parts that were both astounding and (for the viewer), riveting.

Swidden,

Thanks. (BTW, thank you for the classy words you wrote after I was away for a while. I appreciate the 'open door' policy, and I never forget what anyone writes.)

To answer your question, I'm not really sure. But it's nice to say hello to a few of you again.

Looking back, I actually like Encounter at Farpoint, although I admit it could've been a lot better. But you gotta remember this is 1987 and television, so the budget is smaller than 1987 movies. I liked the 21st century court. Nice filling in of history and keeping with the legacy of TOS including the chronology of WWIII. I also like the introduction of Q. TOS often did the old god-like being terrorizes the crew, but Q was the first to become a recurring character, and a popular one at that. I like very few episodes he is in actually, but All Good Things makes up for that.
Sure, it's kind of awkward but it's the pilot. The only Star Trek pilots that arn't awkward are TOS and ENT. (IMHO)

Noah,

Q grew on me as the series (and the episodes of DS9 and VOY that he was in) became more familiar to me. I actually saw quite a range in his acting as Q, esp. with regard to his handling (or mishandling) of his anger.

I forget the Voyager Q episodes, it's just been too long. I remember I don't like the young Q who was a member of the crew for an episode towards the end, but the war in the Q Continuum was a good story.

It's actually the Q episode in DS9 (the one with Vash) which made the entire series of VOY worth watching.
