Knock it off. Nobody here made such a claim. You're talking to the wrong people about calling Bush Hitler.

TRUE;
NOBODY here!!!! :hail: :hail: :sorry: :sorry: :sorry: :sorry:

BUT EVERY OTHER Site I go to has avatars with Bush and hitler swtiching places every 5 seconds...

AND all throughout the election season comments that BUSH and Hitler were equivalent ran everywhere........

So while I accuse no one here for you to expect me to IGNORE the general OUTSIDE envoirnment is a bit much......................

Understood Wayne. But realize that not all "leftists" are saying that. The radical fringe always gets the most attention.

Something Wicked This Fae Comes
I will restate what I said on the other thread regarding this matter:

All policies in regards to contracting out to the private sector to promote government programs needs to be reviewed pronto IMO.

This whole contracting process stinks to high heaven.

I listened to Mrs. Gallagher on the News Hour (PBS) this evening. I don't think she did anything wrong on ethical grounds. Mrs. Gallagher's highly publicized circumstances certainly don't rise to the level of the Armstrong Williams situation. The material that Mrs. Gallagher prepared for the government appears to be consistent with her long-held views on the topic (traditional marriage/family) - and the HHS "hired" her due to her knowledge and her perspective (and because the Bush administration agrees with her view).

The matter involving commentator Armstrong Williams is deplorable and smells of wrongdoing, in my opinion. If Secretary Page were not already on his way out, he should be fired, in my opinion.

I also thought that President Bush's stance (statement) on the whole issue was appropriate - although I hope the President meant what he said about this more than he did when he said that he wanted to identify the White House official who leaked Valerie Plame's name to that weasle Robert Novak (lip service).

I tend not to believe anything that the government tells us - not what is good for us to eat, not what is good for the environment, not whether we're safe or in danger, not anything - queue the song "American Idiot" by Green Day.

I do object to and oppose the "social" agenda of the Bush administration - I see his (Bush's) agenda as exclusionary and divisive. But I don't blame Mrs. Gallagher for accepting the job of creating materials she truly believed in for the government to use to carry out its agenda.

Personal Response

Wow! Based on what some have written here about Ms. Gallagher, I expect that any artist who ever received an NEA grant will be told they cannot every express a public opinion again. ;) If what you do in one administration means that what you do in another can allow people to assume that you have been paid for it, any other response to NEA artists would be hyperhypocritical. :P

Since I have already used words like "not ethical", "wrong" and "profoundly stupic" to describe the Armstrong situation, I think my views are clear.

The Gallagher and Armstrong situations simply aren't the same.

And Wayne, you weren't completely wrong. I do know of at least one instance where a poster threw out a Nazi references in response to someone who disagreed with them. It wasn't Bush=Hitler, but it was definitely a Nazi reference.
