$1.3 Trillion in Deficits Forecast Over Decade

Article

The CBO's annual report on the budget outlook foresees a deficit of $400 billion this year. It also forecast a cumulative deficit of $1.3 trillion from 2005 to 2014, an increase of nearly 60% from the CBO's $861-billion estimate of just four months ago.

We need to get these deficits under control.

Where’s Gvok? I need him to post some witty repartee about the deficit.

The deficit needs to be fixed. Without fixing the deficit, we will not be able to move forward politically, socio-economically, culturally, psychologically, or spiritually. We need to stop electing officials--especially Republicans--that bury us in incredible debts that our children, grandchildren, and great-grand children will have to face. It is time for conservatives to stop thinking solely about their own wallets. They need to be required to give what they earn through hard work to charities--and they need to be taxed much more than they already are being taxed. They need to give up automobiles, their wealth, and their homes, and they need to care for the homeless at every turn, regardless of the consequences of choosing to do so. It is far better to give money to the homeless than it is to find jobs for them. That way, the problem remains, but we feel better about ourselves. The rich should be required to give up all of their monies and possessions, and every conservative--those that want children to starve, the air to be dirty, abortion to be illegal, the population to increase, the earth's resources to be depleted, and especially those that are racist and homophobic--ought to be made to feel guilty at all costs so that they can be convinced to give up what they have worked most of their lives to achieve.

I didn't read that. Hopefully, it isn't objectionable.

Personal Response

I need to start keeping these links. I read somewhere that this year's deficit projection is down from about 440 B to 350 B. Still not good, but looking up .....

Fes, sarcasm is so not you.

The Deficit is a big problem. It could lead to the weakening of our currencyand create a huge burden for future generations.

The Sisko,

Perhaps not. But it was written for a reason. :)

UNGH!
Our beloved Gvok (how we miss him..... :() would probably say something clever like "but the numbers are still well below what the administration originally predicted, so it's still good". ;)

Or he'd say something like, "deficits in the real scheme of things don't matter". ;)

Or maybe " a deficit is a deficit is a deficit......." ;)

Hurry back Gvok and prove me wrong!

I thought I summed up what Pharktar would have said quite well.
