No. I was just kidding. To answer your question, I think the left will get the kick in the pants that they don't seem to be getting with the election of a Republican for the second time in a row. In particular, the Democratic party is off course, and they don't look like they are getting anywhere anytime soon. If the Dems lose again in '08, then I think that will be the jolt that encourages them to make the necessary changes within the party (changes that will attract the moderates). In other words, the Democratic Party needs to prioritize and stop trying to cater to the far left (which isn't where the majority of their core supporters reside). |

Great commentary I agree with it, At lest I hope they get the kick in the pants they need. I especial like that part about moderates and the far left. As a moderate (although many on this board would say I am not) I am every disappointed in and feel alienated by the democratic party |

24's got it pretty well, I think. Sen. Clinton seems, with her speaking about abortion yesterday, to be trying reach the middle. I don't know if it will work for her, but it could for the right Democrat. The left needs to find a way to connect with the people that live everywhere in between the West Coast and the Northeast. However, they can't just pay them lip service. I think with folks like Sen. Boxer and Rep. Pelosi being so prominent and vocal this may not work for them. Particularly in the case of Pelosi, I think she really does not undestand the rest of the country. |

 Very kind of you.
Thanks. I understand a little bit of what you are experiencing (wrt= alienation and disappointment). This is what led me (in part) to vote for Bush this past election. |

Personal Response One more vote with 24 .... The only thing I dislike more than a two-party system is a one-party one. The Democratic Party needs to do some serious looking at their future. End of Personal Response |
