I am curious where the term "islamofacist" came from. Did someone here make it up, or is a Fox buzzword?

Maybe this will help shed some light on the subject.

Islamofascism, Islamonazism
The terms Islamofascism and Islamonazism are used by advocates of the view that aspects of Islam are fascist or similar to behaviour or thought typical of Nazis and are often used to compare Muslim countries to Nazi Germany. These terms were popularized by writers like Andrew Sullivan during the 2003 debate over whether secular, Baathist Iraq was in collusion with fundamentalist terror group Al Qaeda. Radio host Michael Savage claims to have coined the term. Christopher Hitchens has also been identified as the coiner thereof. During World War II, some Arab nationalists did collaborate with the Nazis (such as the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Amin al-Husayni).

Some use the term "Islamofascism" specifically to refer to the Muslim Brotherhood and similar movements in Sunni Islam inspired by the writings of Sayyid Qutb, while others use it to refer to all highly politicized strains of Islam, including Shi'a radicalism as practised in Iran. A more common and less loaded term for these politicized strains of Islam, which seek to replace secular governments in Muslim countries with Sharia law, is Islamist.

MSNBC fires Savage on anti-gay remarks

DAVID BAUDER

Associated Press

NEW YORK - MSNBC on Monday fired Michael Savage for anti-gay comments.

The popular radio talk show host who did a weekend TV show for the cable channel referred to an unidentified caller to his show Saturday as a "sodomite" and said he should "get AIDS and die."

Thanks, though Dwayne, for finding the answer for me.

What does this have to do with hate crimes?

To me this, and the "fox-tion" posts, are some attempt to portray all conservatives as liars and bigots.

Yes, I apologize, I am alone in portraying one side of the political system in a bad light. ;)

I came across this today...
Quote:

The Armanious family had inspired several Muslims to convert to Christianity — or thought they had. These converts were actually practicing taqiyya, or religious deception, pretending to be friends of these Christians in order to strengthen themselves against them, as in Qur’an 3:28: “Let believers not make friends with infidels in preference to the faithful — he that does this has nothing to hope for from Allah — except in self-defense.”

Of course, the family, not suspecting the deception, was happy to see the “converted” men and willingly let them in to their home. That’s why there was no sign of forced entry. Then the “converted” Muslims did their grisly work.

Many Copts are regarding the murders as a warning to the Coptic community as a whole, related to the increasing strife between Copts and Muslims in Egypt and the Copts’ energetic efforts in America to get the truth out about the differences between Middle Eastern Christians and Muslims — differences that the Islamic lobby, with its disingenuous talk of “Arab Americans,” routinely glosses over and hopes you don’t notice. The Copts, to their immense credit, have been particularly outspoken among Middle Eastern Christians about Muslim oppression. And yes, many are active on Pal Talk debating Muslims.

The nature of the warning? The murders send a signal from the Muslims to the Copts: we are going to behave here the same way we behaved in Egypt, and the First Amendment and American law enforcement will not protect you. Don’t expect America to keep you safe from us. The oppression and harassment you thought you had left behind in Egypt has now come to you.

Thanks Dwayne. I had not seen this.

This is disturbing. Very disturbing.

Such displays of civilized behavior from the so-called "Religion of Peace."

It makes you wonder if the friendly neighbor next door really is a friend, or practicing this deception. There was also a movie on HBO last night about the hijackers who crashed planes into the WTC, Pentagon, and almost the Capital or White House buildings (instead forced into that Pennsylvania field). The movie was chilling. It showed these terrorists doing their best to fit in outwardly with American society, but at the same time training to kill us and loathing everything we stand for.

Heck - I didn't invent the term.

I think I gave a link in another thread that gave it's pedigree.

It is apt and a good description though.

That's funny, I don't recall the Pope saying it's ok to chop off the heads of non-believers or those that have converted to other religions.
