Why would someone caught in the middle of transport wreak havoc on everything he touches? That seemed far-fetched.

IE,

I don't think it would, normally. But I also (seriously) think the region of space that Quinn was lost in--and the one where ENT was in attempting to retrieve him--may have had something to do with it. Does anyone recall if that was explained or not?

The only explanation I heard is that the region of space was stuck in a temporal loop. It's an interesting point that you brought up, but while, that could possibly cause the destruction, if such conditions were present in the region, I would think the whole Enterprise would have been destroyed, not just objects touched by Quinn's manifestations.

Agreed. I think this is where poetic license is invoked. ;)

I agree
That could certainly be
Poetry applied
Realism denied
;)

(ok, what do want for a poem written in 15 seconds...  )

Or perhaps we need to suspend our disbelief for this one....

I had no problems with the weird transporter problem myself. Just more Trek stuff.

In all, I think it was a decent story, a little on the boring side, but that's ok.

I too think that the Ship needs a few more lights. Everything feels so dark. I would be depressed all the time if I were on that ship.

I'm glad that T'pol is studing to become a "real" Vulcan. I don't see why their relationship has to suffer because of it. But then again, where's the logic in dating a guy from earth?

Good point about the lights. I often thought the same thing on DS9. Although it's far more lit up since the Federation took it, it's still pretty drab.

I think this episode is more boring watching it the second time around.

Ian,

Or maybe some more color would help. This would have been a nice (albeit subtle) way to tie-in with TOS. ;(

Well, after watching this episode, I think it's the worst episode I've seen of the season so far. First the good points. Now I really want to see the Vulcan Arc. I want to know what T'pol ment by Kirshara, and the whole thing about her mother being killed. After watching Home last week, and this episode this week, I'm quite interested in that plot now. I also liked the use of the Transporter. Of the shows of ENT I watched, we don't get to see it much in action. I'm glad they devoted an entire episode (That was better than Vanishing point from season two) to it for once.

Now the bad points and there were quite a few. First of all the guy who played Emory Ericson left much to be desired. He just seemed either so quiet or just the dialoge written for him was not very good. It was sometimes hard to understand him. Secondly, Bakula again shows why he can't act as a Starship captain. His chewing out of Trip was kind of sucky. Third, and probably my biggest qualm, is that this episode was too dark. It was one thing that it was kind of slow, but the whole "darkness" kind of made me tune out a bit. I understand dark provides drama, but lighten the ship up just a tad. It was just really hard to see.

I'd probably give this episode a C-. It was alright, but still very weak compared to the In a Mirror Darkly, Demons/Terra Prime, and Home that I've seen this season so far.
