I'm Captain Kirk!
There was a time if you said reality show, I'd run for the hills. But The Discovery Channel has a great line-up of reality shows.

1. Mythbusters (Which is my favorite)
2. American Chopper
3. American Hot Rod
4. Big
5. WingNuts

These are really good show and I would recommend to all.

I like Mythbusters even though their research techniques are a little..... loose.

The specialty channels do "reality" well.

I watch a lot of Food Network, HGTV and TLC.

The "entertainment" networks do the worst "reality" shows :banghead: :yuck:

If you lived in the UK, you would run for the hills.

Last year we had:

Big Brother, Teenage Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother, Celebrity Fit Club, The Farm, I'm a Celebrity, get me out of here, The X factor, Strictly come dancing, and quite a few others i can't remember, most of them featuring z-list celebs.

In a week or so, Celeb Big Brother three starts. Groan.

^^The number of off the wall reality shows involving celebrities has increased substantially in the states too. Those are the worst of the reality tv shows IMO.

There are a few good reality tv shows that I check out occasionally each season: Survivor, The Amazing Race and the first few weeks of American Idol (where the really bad singers audition...I don't watch the rest of the season though). I will check out Big Brother too. However, that show has gotten so boring I usually end up watching something else.

I used to love Survivor, but they only did two series of it here, it was great.

Big Brother - I watched the first one in 2000 out of curiosity, and i see bits and pieces of the other seasons, but i saw most of last years, and it was evil! They gave them tiny food budgets and made them have cold showers and things!

There was also a massive fight between the housemates, and hundreds of viewers called the police!

I dislike all reality shows. I used to like the home improvement stuff on Learning Channel, but since this type of show has taken over nearly their entire schedule, I have come to dispise them. I will patiently wait for TV with compelling plots and characters to come back. In the meantime, TV is available for you on your own schedule via DVD.

 That's wild. There was one season of Big Brother here in the States where a guy put a big butcher knife up near a woman's throat. He was playing but he wasn't playing. It was hard to explain the incident. He got booted from the show because of that though. Maybe one or two others over the years have been kicked off for threatening others. Overall, there has been little or no violence on our Big Brother shows.
