With the relos over for christmas, one of my aunts got a 'Its a Wonderful Life' on DVD as a pressie, Boxing day morning a few of us sat down to watch it, believe it or not , this is the first time I had seen this movie. I was really , really impressed by this movie, especially for the time it was made (1946), most movies of that era schmaltz over real issues, but this one was quite grown up, it delt with attempted suicide, corporate greed and poverty . The story was a little too close to Dickens' Christmas Carol, but still, I think it is one of the best movies ever made. It left me with an impression similar to the one I felt when I first saw Citizen Kane - they dont make em like they used to |

sorry, didn't like it at all. or at least the theme. he wants kill himself, then finds out through butterfly effect that he was important, then people feel sorry for him and give him money. what lesson is there....? I doubt it would make depressed people feel better....since they probably won't see their importance, if any, and they probably know that no one's giving them money. but it had some good things. |

Don't make me use my bare hands on you.

People gave him money because of the bank that he ran bailing people out of trouble all of those years was in trouble. Jimmy Stewart was one of a kind. |

I used to not like the movie at all. However, the last two years I have made more of an effort to watch the movie again, and I have found that I actually like the movie somewhat. In other words, it is growing on me.

This movie is so good that even watching just the final 10 minutes of it makes me cry.

It's a good story. I think that all of us have done someone some good, and if you were to see what life was like without you, things similar to what happened in the movie are very possible. I would have to say that It's a Wonderful Life is kind of an extreme example, but it would have been kind of lame to see a mundane person's experience. They had to have a charicter that has done a lot of good things for a lot of people. I highly doubt that main street where I live would be filled with strip clubs If I wasn't born, you know what I mean. So, be happy with what you got people. :-) |
