^^^ Cute! We owned a budgie that lived to be about 7 years old. It talked, flew around the house, landed on our shoulders--and, when company wasn't around, actually came to our dinner table to 'scrounge' food off of our plates. It was one of the nicest and most enjoyable pets we've ever had.

Okay folks, time to change the channel here. I must warn you all that you're dangerously close to a FCC violation and considerable fine from Mr. Powell et al. We don't want any underwear malfunctions.

Yep - they're very nice and very sweet birds. (Did you know they are native to Australia ?) We had a pair that lived with us when my eldest son was young , we would never close the cage door and they were free to fly the hose, and outside sometimes, they always came back, and they thought they were humans I think. They would nibble at our ears to wake us up in the morning too. We currently have a pair of Rosella's roosting in our big tree in the front yard (in a bird box I put there a few years ago for the purpose when I noticed then trying to get into my roof space through a bit of weather timber under the drain). They've become very tame , they'll take fruit pieces from my fingers, but are still wary of the kids - I put a little seed and fruit (cut up) out for them from time to time. I would much rather see birds free to what they please than in captivity as pets in cages. |

Somerled, Once, ours flew out the door! Needless to say, we were saddened, and wondered if it would come back. To our surprise, it did--within five minutes! |

I didn't pay any attention the "protective".edit by Somerled : actually - I do recall that they are like diapers - you tie them at the hips - but they are certainly not very absorbant. Oh well - it was a good joke. |
