The Canadian network CBC recently ran a series called the Greatest Canadian. The winner was Tommy Douglas who is credited with creating the Canadain mediacal system (by the way he is also Kiefer Sutherlands Grandfather) There is also a web site that is looking for nomination for the most embarassing canadian. I was wondering who you thought the greatest and the most embarassing cititzen was in youre nation? I know there was a similar show that aired in Britain. My Votes: Greatest: Tommy Douglas (hard choice over William Shatner who surprisingly didn't make it into the top 10 )Most embarassing: Pamela Anderson or maybe Celine Dion ( also hard choice over W.S Just kidding )

Interesting that Pierre Burton died the day that the Greatest Canadian was announced. I wonder if he would have won if he had died a couple of weeks earlier? He certainly formed many peoples opinion of what it is to be Canadian through his many detailed and interesting history books. As for most embarrasing Canadian - Pamela Anderson is certainly up there - but no way on Celine Dion. She has been a pretty good ambassador for our country. What about Carolyn Parrish? She would be the current favorite. |

As a Canadian, my instict tells me Wayne Gretzky, I would also say Tommy Douglas, because he created one of foundations of Canadian society. Worst would go to....yeah...Pamela Anderson. |

What? No Lorne Greene mentioned? He was the "Voice of Canada" long before he became an intergalactic space dad! |

Red Green is awesome. As an American, I would have to give my vote to Celine Dion. If I were canadian, I would be embarrassed. As an American I am embarassed because of Michael Jackson. |

#38 Wayne Gretzky was the only hockey player to crack the top 10. Who do you think is the greatest American and the most embarassing? |

I don't know about greatest American, but most embarresing would be: Britany Spears, Paris and Nicky Hilton Nicole Ritchy, anyone on reality shows, the Dixie Chicks, Michael Moore, and trial laywere who make their money off of suing people or companies. Also, the ACLU and PETA |
