Air America Lands Funding Reups Franken LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Liberal broadcaster Air America Radio, which is seeking a full-time chief executive, said Wednesday it has raised $13 million from investors, renewed the contracts of two of its more popular radio hosts and signed RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser on as its chairman. Air America said humorist Al Franken would remain on the roster for at least two more years, while Randi Rhodes has signed on for three. The company would not say how much it is paying its talent. "Air America has created the hottest new brand on radio, offering some of the most dynamic personalities and programming found anywhere on the radio dial," said Glaser, who led the latest funding round and has been an investor in the company nearly since its inception. Despite the company's launch to much fanfare earlier this year, Air America's future had been a question mark because of spats with Multicultural Radio Broadcasting, owner of some of the stations that broadcast Air America, and the hasty departure of top executives, including previous chairman Evan Cohen. The company said Wednesday, though, that the cash infusion and the fact that its programming now may be heard on 40 stations nationwide in addition to XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio should put to rest speculation that the company might fail. "With the new funding and our contracts signed, sealed and delivered, Air America has proven its ability to attract talent and investors," Rhodes said. "I have re-signed with Air America in order to spend less time with my family," Franken joked. Air America has been run by interim CEO Doug Kreeger, but the firm said Wednesday that he has stepped down, though he remains a board member. While Air America searches for a new CEO, the company will be run by president Jon Sinton and executive vp Carl Ginsberg. Reuters/Hollywood Reporter |

I listen to Al Franken every now and then. I'm not too crazy about the other programs though. |

I'm curious about those "40 stations". Are any over say, 250 watts? Aren't most college campus radio stations? Sorry, but Air America is irrelevent and always will be. Al Franken has marginalized himself. I hope, though, that they keep finding this idiocy and other Moveon.org organizations, just so as many people as possible can see the left's true colors. Note to Al Franken: The Stuart Smalley schtick just doesn't work. |

I know that in Philadelphia and New York they broadcast from major AM stations. I find it interesting that this article get's such a reaction though. |

Define "major" AM station. The one in New York was some rarely-listened to station that played Caribbean music and had a listenership of less than 15,000. What "reaction" is this? Assigning emotion to people again? Franken is a joke, and a stale one at that. The "network" is a pathetic joke that can't survive on advertising and instead needs "investors" to keep this shoestring and two tin cans going. Of course, nanny state liberalism doesn't sell a lot of products. Still, keep at it Al! Maybe you'll bleed George Soros dry, or take money meant for another attempt at manipulating our currency.

"Reaction" is assining emotion? I'm talking about your need to hurl insults and other scathing remarks at things that don't jive with your ideology. Although it is true that I think there is nothing but emotion driving your reaction, my original post only commented that I found your reaction interesting. |

That I laughed at Al Franken? Why shouldn't I? My need to hurl insults? Hang on, let me check... I have no need to, I just call them as I see them. I'm sorry if I'm mocking your hero, but he deserves it. Dry your tears... |

Ah, so you admit that you did have a reaction. Nice job. Is he my hero? It's not like I quote his cliches word for word. BTW, I don't know how powerful the NY station is but I know I can tune it in about 50 or 60 miles out of the city. |

So any comment I would make, by your definition, would be a reaction. Shall we discuss your hissy reactions to my posts while we're at it? This grows stale and pathetic, as usual. |

You're the one who needs to insult everyone who posts something you have a problem with. |

The data set I'm working with are the posts you make. Is there some other data you feel I should look at, Admiral? |

I think A. Franken is funny when he's telling jokes. However, I don't take his politics very seriously.
