Elephant hide is thick and tough , and I think they just prod and scratch with it. It doesn't harm the animal, but the animal feels it. It does look like a very brutal instrument though doesn't it ? |

Yes it does. It looks like it could easily slice right through the elephant's hide (despite the toughness of the hide). |
