The US has definitely suffered a black eye over the last 4 years because of our actions in regards to Iraq.

Four years?

America only went into Iraq in April of 2003. That's less than 2 years ago.

Yes, I know that. Sorry, my second sentence didn’t transition well with the rest of the paragraph. I was including the difficult transition from Clinton to Bush (which started four years ago), up until now. That time period of course includes the war in Iraq.

The extreme anti-Americanism we see today started the very day America was attacked those fateful days over 3 years ago. People just let the politics of the moment blind themselves to this.

No, the extreme anti-Americanism we see today was there long before 9/11. It didn't begin on 9/11. It was only then that many Americans came to the realization that such hatred for us existed (or could affect us so deeply).

However, I am not referring to extreme anti-Americanism. In my opinion, extreme anti-Americanism is not the norm. That is the type of sentiment that we see from the Islamosfacist crowd. We have just fallen out of favor with many in the international community right now. That doesn't mean they hold extremist views toward the US or that they are a part of the extremist crowd.

Edit: For clarification...

Are you referring to extreme anti-Americanism or more properly worded, "extreme amount of anti-Americanism?" There is a difference. If it is the former, then previous comments stand. If the latter, then it is my opinion that anti-Americanism was there on a small level, but exacerbated by the war in Iraq. 9/11 had actually generated a lot of positive will toward the US (a show of support). However, that took a major reversal as a result of the war in Iraq.
