I can't believe they notified the cops that someone stole their marijuana, and that they needed it back. What did they expect the police to do, put out an APB or let them file a "missing [strike]person's[/strike] marijuana report?"

I wonder if they ever considered calling the cops the last time they set their phone down and forgot where they left it...? |

^^^ I had somewhat of a chilling thing occur to me over the weekend. Backstory: A girl, around thirteen or so, was murdered a couple of months ago, and the body was dumped about 1.5 miles from our property. The area where she was found was Federal land, and the police comb it a lot nowadays. I was driving to work, on a dirt road, and I saw a State Police car near the area where she was supposedly found. I recalled that I hadn't remembered to take my wallet from the other car, meaning that I was driving without a license. The police car pulled out of the woods, and began following me. Usually, I'm concerned if a local police car is behind me--it's somewhat unnerving for all, I think. (It is for me, as I think I'm going to commit an infraction of some sort.) I drove about six miles, and he was still behind me. He began to tail me (either I was going too slowly or he was trying to get my plate no.?); when I got about five miles from work, I thought of pulling over and getting out, in order to ask him why he was tailing me. But not having my license, I didn't think this would be a good idea--NLOL! Anyway, he turned in another direction once I turned down another road. Still, it was somewhat disquieting, knowing I didn't have my license with me. |

Don't make me use my bare hands on you.

Generally, you have a certain amount of time to show that you were licenced if you were pulled over without it, but it is generally technically illegal to drive with out a licence. I got caught without my insurance card once and had like 30 days to go show it to some one at a courthouse and all was forgiven. |

this kind of thing accually happens all the time. Some of my history teacher's friends are cops, and somone (usually a college student) will come in saying that their roomate stole their pot. Just for kicks, they'lll sit them down and explain the entire thing.... in front of a camera. the cop acts sympathetic, and when it's done, they arrest him or her. Wonder what cops do when the're bored? now you know. |

Yeah, cops are not out to enforce the laws that we elect people to enact, they're really their to arbitrarily make your life miserable and oppress you, and the law is just a crutch for them. |

38957, Thanks. I remember reading about a 'grace' period with regard to driving without a license.

38, Your point regarding the police is well seen, however I have seen the other side to it growing up somewhere where crime is at a minimum. I must have been pulled over once every two weeks in Nebraska for no reason other than for them to search my car. (This is when I had long hair and an earring and was around 20) They would always say, "You didn't come to a full and complete stop at that stop sign." To which I reply, "Yes I did." And they retort "I said you didn't." And I let him search my car and come up with nothing, AGAIN. Have a great evening officer!!
