Yes, honesty is bad. We should lie to children and hope they don't figure it out. :rotfl:

Thats your opinion is it not?

If the true goal is the health and protection of our children then honesty is the only way to go.

In your opinion - and their inlies the problem.

Care to explain how incorrect information will protect our children?

I can not, as that is not my opinion.

On the subject of sex and birth control? I would want my kids to have the correct information.

Well, as a parent I have a vested interest in ALL children getting the correct information. This is beyond an "opinion"

Someone else's kid might spread thier "misinformaton" to my child and she might be affected by it. What if someone told thier child it is ok to force themselves on a member of the opposite sex? I can't prevent what someone says in the home, but at least the schools can help spread the correct information.

Now you are getting a little out their. And the argument can spin the other way. What if I want my child to have the wrong information and your child tells my child the right information?

Dan, why don't you just change your name to Devil's Advocate?

Wasn't it Tellarites who argue just to argue?

You don't want to hear this - but sometimes the needs of society do outweigh the needs (or wants) of the individual.

What if you told your kid it was ok to murder?

But I am not playing devils advocate, but if I where - would that be so bad? It is clear that the idea of one pushing their opinions and beliefs on others is not as clear cut as people would like to believe.

Why would I not want to hear that? I believe in those words very much.

Then I would be telling my children my opinion on the subject of killing.

No, I'm not saying it a bad thing, but you basically agree that kids should know the truth, but you are arguing that others shouldn't be forced to tell kids the truth. So, which do you think outweighs the other?

Is it more important for kids to know the truth, or is it more important that we retain our right to lie to our kids?

Ahhh now that is a good question, and different people will give you different answers for all different reasons.

Now if Group A believed one of those possibilities where true and they make it so that their notion is followed, then group B (who thinks the other possibility where true) will be forced to expect that notion.
