IAEA and Iran; Same ol' song and dance

Iran has agreed to a watered down version of the agreement they broke with the EU some months ago. Iran will stop any and all nuclear production not directly related to its energy production.

Yet...before the ink was dry on the new agreement, the Iranian spokesperson was reminding everyone that the agreement was nonbinding.

Didn't we have the same weak kneed actions taken against Iran? The same series of new agreements and resolutions to replace previously broken agreements?

Someone wish to tell me how the UN is relevant when it continually fails to act in any meaningful way.

I know, why don't we have an embargo against Iran so France, Germany, Russia and Kofi Anon can get rich(er), while the people of Iran endure decades of tyranny?

I, too, wonder if we are getting into another North Korea game here in which they agree not to do something (i.e., signing the non-proliferation agreement) and then a few years later they claim that they are gonna do it anyway, but agree again to live up to their agreement in exchange for some other concessions, etc.

It is like when I was in high school and had pictures of the Principle with a 15 year old boy and this got me passing grades my junior and senior year despite the fact that I only showed up for class once a month. I'd just pull out a copy of the picture everytime the report cards were due out and walla.

I can't help wondering if this is all building up to a war between the USA and Iran. They are in the axis of evil, you know. There is a war of rhetoric underway.

With Iran's support of al qaida, I sure don't want them armed with nuclear weapons and missiles.

Something Wicked This Fae Comes
Definitely a war of rhetoric going on. Right now, I am a little pessimistic about the state of affairs between Iran and the US. The Iranian gov't keeps pushing and pushing despite the real possibility of what could happen (US military action against Iran). It isn't like our President is afraid to take the military course (Iraq as an example). So all of this posturing and game playing on the part of Iran leads me to believe that Iran is:

1) Further along in their nuclear program than anyone suspects (either have or are close to having a nuclear weapon). Or...
2) They are in denial and think the President won't order an attack because of our current overseas commitments.

Hmm...I am leaving something out. Regardless, I have little doubt that Iran is up to no good, and they are using the EU and the UN as pawns in their twisted little games.

Once more we have a nation wanting to put its chips down on the big table. Unfortunately both the UN and EU seem incapable of hammering out agreements that have any real teeth to them...
