Heard this on the news tonight and had to look it up on the web.

A very sad story.

Warning dont read the link if you are eating, or wish to remain happy.

The link is just from MSNBC, it doesnt have any graphic parts but is quite disturbing.

Story of Texan woman that cut off her childs arms

Why is it that in these types of stories, there is always a mention of a Child Protection Service ( any where in the world, not just america) that had visited the parents prior to an incident and determined the child wasnt at risk?

Another interesting thing, in the paper today, this story got the whole first page of the World section, but the story of the six hunters got a tiny paragraph a couple of pages back

Dandandat,

I think I know what you're saying, despite the subject matter. Years ago, I read where someone thought that since it is legal to abort, why not just kill the child when it's three, or four, or five? I remember finding it distasteful, but sometimes such words are needed in order to make a point--esp. in today's climate, where many are desensitized.

The trouble with that argument is that you can go backwards and use it to say that contraception is also murder

I have no problem with the argument as it stands.

That is if you want to get philosophical and say the prevention of making a life is an infringement on that life. But the point above is more concrete then that.

It is interesting that many people who are anti abortion are pro death penalty and vice versa.
