^^^ Yes, I knew you were a member of the RC Church. I didn't know that you had run the gamut, so to speak.

The churches have more in common than they have in difference with each other. And I find that what they have in common are really the important things, mainly. There are a few exceptions. I don't think that Lutherans accept the presence of the Lord in the Eucharist (communion bread and wine) and Catholics do. This would be a very important difference in my opinion. |

^^^ Correct. Transubstantiation is (I think) the term that is used, isn't it? For my own part, if a Christian says "Christ was only a man", then I see this as an important difference. Some cults practice (or believe) this, but still refer to themselves as Christians. |

There are also, non-trinitarian christians (i.e., Pentacostals). This is where there is true and insurmountable divergence with in the religion. They are really two separate religions at this point. |

^^^ And therein lies the danger. I've attended services with the ones described in your post. Since I don't glow in the dark or swing from a chandelier (at least not often), I didn't fit in very well. The ones I have attended also made a mockery of music. |

AB, this is YOUR comment: "Why is it that you blue staters never give to charities? Hmmm?" Which is to say, why do people in "blue" states NEVER give to charities? Which, as you know is BS. All kinds of people give to all kinds of charities. Where do you get this nonsense that only conservatives give to charities? BTW: Still waiting for that data you mentioned. I will probably regret this, as I think you're setting me up by somehow discrediting my charity and/or the charities I give to, but since you asked nicely: Interreligious Task Force on Central America. http://www.irtfcleveland.org/ Union of Concerned Scientists. http://www.ucsusa.org/ Habitat for Humanity. http://www.habitat.org/ Meals on Wheels in Santa Rosa. http://www.mealcall.org/meals-on-wheels/ca/santa-rosa.htm KPFA listener sponsored radio. http://www.kpfa.org/ I am sure most of these will not meet with your approval. But I did want to show I put my money where my mouth is, supporting freedom from military suppression trained in Ft. Benning, GA in Central America, research regarding the changing environment, reducing homelessness, helping seniors and making sure reliable factual information untainted by advertiser money is released. I donate time and work as well as money to more than one of these organizations. |

        Glow in the dark and swing from the chandeliers, boy that would cut down on electrical costs. It is hard to do music well, but I think most people only feel compelled to make a joyful sound. |

^^^ Your last sentence--spot on. Once, we were told to just sit there and sing whatever tune comes to mind--simultaneously! The preacher was totally serious. I wondered if it had ever occurred to him that God is a God of reason, and of intellect, and that we are to use our minds (as well as other aspects) to worship him. Needless to say, the result of our 'music-making' was cacophonous at best. |

The Admiral accused me of not giving to charity either. For the record my wife and I gave money to the following organizations this year: Our local parish church, WXPN public radio stations, my high school, University of PA Vet School, Salvation Army, Friends of the Poor Charity in Scranton PA, Crohn's Disease foundation, Scranton Public Library, Philadelphia Public Library The Lukemia Society The Working Closet The Girl Scouts of America I hope you'll have the decency to retract your unfounded accusations. I'm willing to bet that I will recieve no response however |

I'm not surprised he believes that given he only reads right wing news sources. |
