i was thinking of a couple things: 1. I read in the orininal ST encyclopedia about a star trek 2 series, not the animated, but before TNG, is was to include a half humun half vulcan as well, i saw a pic of that person w/ ears and stuff. the show was stoped before it aired or so......but does anyone know of maybe just a pilot in some studio? 2. I wondered if the producers and sadly rodenberry may have left something out. not until TNG "arsonal of freedom" the 20th episode did we get to see the cheif engineer of the enterprise. though a cheif engineer was highly needed in TOS and in the other 6 seasons of TNG. I wonder why, did they forget to make another "miracle worker"? did they only have room for a counselor and an annoying kid? they either forgot or it was deliberate. good thing anyway, that character was an @$$#&*, poor actor must have thought he would get signed on as a leading role. but they had Burton.....but Rodenberries point was to have a blind guy driving (kinda scent of a woman). anyway, i don't know much so tell me what you know or think or what you think you know. |

All I know about Star Trek 2 is that the guy who was to be the "new" Spock was also the actor who protrayed the commander of the space station that was destroyed by V'ger.

Defiant, That Star Trek 2 series was never filmed, not even a pilot. They had lined up actors for the roles, but it just never got off the ground any further than doing screen tests. Eventually, the idea for it was reworked to become the first Star Trek motion picture. The actor who was to portray the new Vulcan in the Series 2 ended up still working -- just as a human character (as Fireh8er mentioned). |

This is Star Trek based forum, to expect us to offer you financial compensation is not logical. Now, if we can work something out with a Ferengi banker maybe, just maybe, we might be able to get you a few slivers of latinum... Ask 24, as I recall from days gone by at ST.com she was in tight with a Ferengi bookie...

I understand that there was no Chief Engineer because the TNG producers wanted the series to be different from Star Trek. I'm not sure how they intended to do a series without dealing with the engine room is a mystery but "being different" is also why Vulcans weren't on the ship at first. |

OK, i assumed there was a pilot because I had seen that same picture of that vulcan. And the engineer I guess so, it still doesn't sound right. |

There's actually a book available called 'Star Trek Phase II' which talks about this, and has the scrips from the first few episodes. One, 'The Child' was brought back for TNG. It was meant to star the original crew with some extra's. Kirk, Sulu, Chekov, Uhura, McCoy and Scott were to return. Deckard was the new first officer, Illia was in it as well, and the new Vulcan science officer was a Lt. 'Xon'. |
