I recently watched an old tape of TOS' "Galileo Seven" and Spock is definitely a whole different kind of Vulcan compared to how they are treated on Enterprise (This is allowing for his possibly over compensating even).

I saw an episode of VOY last night and thought Tuvok made a very convincing Vulcan, certainly on par with Spock and Sirak. Why can't ENT get it right? Are they purposefully changing the Vulcans or is it just poor acting (or something else)?

I think it is less the acting and more the writing. Case in point, Kos telling T'Pol he wanted her to be happy.

You are definitely right about Russ' performance as Tuvok. The guy knows how to play a Vulcan. Even Voyager's other Vulcan, Vorik, was presented well.

A Robot in Disguise

Just got my hands on this ep and watched it tonight.

Reading this thread, I'm glad to see there was mainly positive comments about this ep.

I really liked the Phlox facing prejudice aspect, you get a bit sick of trek always showing humans as wholesome good guys.

Also like the Archer fighting his demons bit.

One important point

While watching this ep I didnt really even notice that T'Pol had tight clothes or that her mother had big ones ( as some have said in this thread ), I dont really find her that attractive, in this season especially she looks a bit too muscular

I'm in the demographic that some of you suggest the producers are aiming T'Pols dress style at ( a healthy male 13-24 yr old) , but I dont see her as a sex symbol.

In contrast, the was a scene at the end with Hoshi in a tank top and little shorts  . man she is HOT!. The scene only lasted about 60 seconds, but by the end of that 60 seconds I could feel my hormones going crazy and a distinct difficulty in concentrating.

For me Hoshi is ENTs sex symbol  , if Paramount want me to be more devoted than I already am, more scenes with Hoshi wearing less clothing

Time for a cold shower

Oh, and a rating, I'd give this 3 / 5 (this is a broad trek rating), this is one I could watch over and over with the scenes or Earth and Vulcan

TribbleMom,

I just learned that tonight (Saturday, 5/21) at 10 p.m. EST, UPN is showing Home! Wasn't this the one you wanted to see? (I forget which one you mentioned, and I can't check because I can't remember the thread--and I wanted to send this off to you fast.) Anyway, I've Emailed and Pm'd you, since I didn't know which you would read first.

If anyone else sees TribbleMom online within the next four or so hours, please tell her to read this thread. Thanks. :)

Happy viewing!

I saw this episode last night in my beginning effort to catch Season 4 in reruns this summer.

Overall, it was pretty good, but why did there need to be three storylines. I would have done without the tolorence aspect with Phlox because they didn't cover it all that much, the Bar scene was kind of just "out there" and it was something that would end up being covered in a great deal at the end of the season. I guess it was necessary, but it took something away from the other two.

As for the other two stories, I'll start with the T'pol and Trip one first. This storyline was pretty good, even though it seemed really slow. I agree, that the Vulcans did seem a bit too emotional, but it didn't bother the story much. I liked the references to Star Trek with the Kalifee and and the fact that it seemed like they did continuie the trip tpol story from Season 3.

Despite those two stories, the one that really made this episode great for me was the one with Erika and Archer. In a way, this could have been the entire episode because it was so cool seeing archer question his actions (And maybe even his inconsistancy) in the expanse. The dream sequence was powerful, and so was his lashing out towards Soval which was great because Soval came out the same way he always has been in this episode, a big prick. I loved Archer's line "I lost something out there, and I'm not sure I can get it back."

Overall, a pretty good episode, but I can't wait till the Vulcan arc, or the Andorian arc. I guess this episode wasn't done by Coto, so I can't wait to see some of the Coto and Stevenes stories. I think I give this episode (Which reminded me of TNG's Family only not as powerful) a B. I havn't seen Storm Front yet, but this is a good start to the season.

I think V suffered from this as well--the storylines were somewhat blurred. I also think that having three people writing the story was not a good thing. It frequently tends to muddle rather than clarify the direction of the plot (or primary storyline).

^Fes,

I know what you mean. There are only two episodes in the Star Trek franchise that were able to pull of a three story episode: TNG's Family, and DS9's Shadows and Symbols. Other that that, three stories in an episode is a bit much and it made Home feel a bit rushed.

Agreed! The final scene in Family--where one line is spoken in response to another, and yet all three storylines are affected--is priceless.
