We have always managed to make teeth brushing fun and since they have been doing it as long as they remember, it is a routine and normal part of life. They wouldn't think of not brushing their teeth, I hope. And when you throw in care bear tooth paste with sparkles, how can you resist?

Great stories! Last night, I had my three year old on my shoulders and I was nearly running around the house moving as fast as I could without being dangerous. After about 10 or 12 laps around the inside of the house I said "Ok, Daddy has to stop and catch his breath". My daughter replied "Me too!"

If anyone had children who watch Teen Titans, and you watch it, too, you know that the theme song is sung by two Japanese girls in a band called Puffyamiyumi. Sometimes, they sing it it English, and sometimes in Japanese. My 4 year old daughter has been singing along with the english version for quite some time now. Today, I hear it on the tv in English, and my daughter is singing along..in Japanese! Of course, I have no idea how much of it was correct...but it sure was cute!

^^^ Notice that most of our stories are about 3 and 4 year olds It really is a cute age. My 10 year old was a bit upset that I have not written a story about her in this particular thread. I guess that is a cute story in itself - now I can tell her I told a story about her

^ My 3 year old daughter tonight pulled her arms into her sleeves. Then she said "Daddy, you do it!" I said "No honey, my arms are too big" (because I didn't really want to right then). She replied, "Hey Daddy! You're big like me!" (Mind you, being from Colombia, she's smaller than average as it is!)Also tonight, I came home late from work and missed the family supper. She had left a Snickers Bar at my place at the table. When I saw it, she said "You have to eat supper first Daddy!"

LOL! Our three-year old (and I suspect many three-year olds) does the following often. I will come home from work, and she will pick up a conversation with me that she had that morning (or even the night before), without missing a beat! It's quite amazing to me actually, as I don't know any adults that do this. I wonder if it has to do with cognitive development at that age? |

For some reason my three year old is continually asking me if either I know her name or what my name is. She generally says something like 'Daddy, what's your name?' and I say 'I dunno' and she says 'It's Daddy, you silly goose'. I can't decide whether she is having an identity crisis, this is her idea of a joke, she has poor memory, she thinks that I have poor memory, she is afraid that we are continually changing names, or it is boredom. I suspect boredom. My 19 month old demonstrated the ability to fake sneeze last night. When she saw the reaction it evoked (us laughing), she fake sneezed a bunch more. She also has become quite fond of running round in circles until she gets dizzy and falls down. I wish that I could remember what it is like to be that young and carefree. |

^^^ I wish I could still run around like that and *not* get dizzy. I can't recall at which age I could no longer go on carnival rides (or even swings!) without feeling unbalanced. |

My 3 year old also loves to fake sneeze. It is because she likes the sound of the word "gezuntheit" (sp?) which I always say after someone sneezes. |

There is a cable bulletin board channel and everyweek they have a dog and a cat of the week that they want somebody to adopt. My 19 month old knows this and when we go by the bulletin board channel, we hear 'cat' or the sound of a dog barking from her, so we end up watching until they show the picture of the cat and dog. It also keeps us abreast of what is going on in the hot city life of Georgetown, Texas. They are having a bluegrass festival this Sunday. |

Ok, here's one. This is the first year that my 3 year old daughter has really been cognizant of Santa. So we went through the whole Santa bit including sitting on Santa's lap (which went remarkably well - my daughter was not afraid of him at all). When we explained that we would put out cookies and milk for Santa, my daughter added "and Dora fruit chews too!" So we put those out too.
(And, of course, Santa at them...)Another one that isn't specifically humorous, but that I felt like sharing: One day last week, my daughter yelled to me from another room. "Daddy! Daddy!" When I asked "What...?" she replied "I love you". One more: I often call my daugher "sweetie pie". One day, when I called her "sweetie", she emphatically said "No! I'm sweetie PIE!" |
